I haven't written consecutively like that in a very long time! It was great practice, but now I am tired. *Plops*

Different Beginnings (incvltvs, Naroko)

Naroko Chiston’s head was spinning. 

How. Force, that was all she wanted to know. How had this gone on for ten years? How had no one noticed that a planet off at the end of the galaxy had been contacted by a member of the Council and commissioned to create a- a clone army?

Well, she wanted to know why too. Why had Master Sifo-Dyas thought the Republic needed an army?

She brushed her still-wet hair out of her face, trailing along in the wake of one of the ethereally graceful Kaminoans. Taun We, she reminded herself. Taun We, who had accompanied her and the Prime Minister Lama Su on their tour of the cloning facility here in Tipoca City. Who had offered to introduce her to the bounty hunter who had donated his genes to this entire... project.

And to think. She’d come here for an entirely different purpose.

Force. Why didn’t they send ObiWan on this wild gundark hunt? I’m a healer. I’m not really supposed to be chasing assassins.

Her lips curled in a wry smile at the thought. Right. Like that had ever stopped her before. Even if she was probably in way over her head, that had never stopped her from jumping into things. 

Focus. 

She hadn’t been able to sense any duplicity from these Kaminoans. Even though they weren’t human- weren’t really close to being humanoid, really- she was fairly sure she was accurate in her empathic reading of the two she’d encountered. They seemed to honestly believe what they were telling her. So either they were being lied to, or things were way more complicated than she’d been expecting to encounter.

And then they were at a door, one of dozens like it lining this seemingly endless white hallway. As Taun We rang the door chime, Naroko carefully tweaked her clothing into order once more. The downpour outside had not done any favors for her appearance, and she’d rather not start off discussions with a bounty hunter looking like a drowned womp rat. She caught the Kaminoan eyeing her and ignored both the look and the sudden flicker of faint disapproval she sensed from her.

The door slid open, revealing a boy of about ten, dusky-skinned, with a mop of curly dark hair and wary dark eyes. She immediately sensed a difference between him and the clones she’d seen earlier. It was subtle, and might simply be down to personality- or a lack of genetic conditioning, but this boy was subtly more... vital in her senses. More intense. She offered the boy a warm smile.

“Boba,” Taun We said. “Is your father here?”
