Steve Reich - Different Trains/Electric Counterpoint Might as well add to my recent minimalist posts. Different Trains is one of Reichs most powerful works in my opinion. Considering the political climate I find it especially moving. It gives a broad sweep of tumultuous and stable times in world history but keeps a strong through line (not unlike train tracks cutting across a nation). Electric Counterpoint on the other hand has always felt quite a bit more light hearted to me which makes for a great juxtoposition.
