Hi there. My name is Melissa Church, although you may know me by my maiden name of Melissa Miller. (I've only been MC for a few months). I attended the Women Lead Change conference yesterday and was awarded the Emerging Leader Award based on my work with @bad_science_jokes and from Digi-Buzz . #WomenLeadChange wrote on their website that the awards are to "recognize the outstanding female leaders in this region and honor those who encourage others to reach for the stars." They asked me what success means to me and I said: I look at success in two ways. 1. Did I make someone's life easier today? And if not, 2. Did I make someone smile today? If I did one of those things then I did something good with the day God gave me. (See the interview here.)
A few people wrote on LinkedIn about my response to the question "What would you tell your 10 year old self?" I said "it's okay when life happens. And it's okay when dreams change." (Did I always want to tell Bad Science Jokes and run a social media agency? Lol. No. I was a professional actor from age 10 to like 18ish before I was bedridden for 2 years). "It may not be much but (Bad Science Jokes is) honest work." 👨🌾 I told the audience that "everything doesnt have to be serious. You can change a life with a smile and a joke... even if it is science related" (I got a few chuckles from that one.😇) And last but definitely not least, Thank YOU. For following me. For reading.
