Is Time Stranger’s Story more enjoyable if you have zero knowledge of Digimon and/or zero knowledge of Aegiomon’s existence? Because I’m starting to think its probably better if they use that premise for a new digimon instead of an old one

Now that my hype for Time Stranger has gone down. Can I just say that after playing Cyber Sleuth/HM the story in TS just sucks.. like, its really really bad, especially the character writing.. oof that was a nose dive from how great CS/HM handled their characters… (and the way some people were praising the story like its some kind of masterpiece when CS/HM, Survive exists..)
It’s disappointing too because after letting my thoughts simmer on it, I actually like Aegiomon, I’m a sucker for male characters who is willing to throw everything away for their beloved to be safe and happy. He had great potential to be a tragic character, but he was dragged down by his own Tamer, who was a flat, bland character.
It also pisses me off how Time Stranger somehow just reduces Aegiomon into Inori’s equally nothingburger of a dead brother now, all his actions are just reduced to “because he absorbs yuta’s data” bullcrap, just taking away his own characteristic and agency. I hate how they just use this as a shortcut to establish their “bond” and do nothing with it. Inori just projects her dead brother onto him and it’s hard to actually believe that they actually formed a bond if he just looks like her dead brother, and what’s worst the game never acknowledges this and no what the game did was NOT acknowledging it. I hate how the game tries to sell us how “deep” their bond is when it just felt superficial and hollow. It would’ve been better if he doesn’t look like her dead brother at least we’d know that she’s didn’t just bond with him because he looks like her dumbass brother.
This is probably possibly the worst way to write a relationship. Because imagine Hikari only partnered up with Gatomon because she’s like a reincarnation of her dead cat Meeko, just completely reduces how meaningful the partnership between a human and digimon are.
It would’ve been fine if they’re a side character but they’re not, they’re the main characters, they are always with us and yet they are blandest, flattest characters ever
