his name is Burninggreymon:Burnout Mode and i think hes neat plus! PLUS!!!! lore that i havent mentioned but I HAVE IT!!!! basically this wonderful specimen comes from an au of fronteir i have which is basically just fronteir but different and (hopefully) better. thats the best i can put it.

in my au, takuya is the last to get his beast spirit. hes been watching his friends gain more power and get super cool new forms, and theyve been kinda leaving him behind in terms of power. pretty much everyone can at least hold their own against cherubimons spirits now except for him, who gets downright disrespected no matter who hes up against. and he HATES IT!!!! he wants to help and he CANT!!!!!!

so imagine how happy he is when they finally find out where the spirit could be! but, before they can actually find and claim burninggreymon, cherubimons spirits find the spirit and grab him. specifically, arbormon grabs him. because arbormon is descended from ancienttrojamon, he has the ability to create trojan viruses with a bit of time and code(i mean neither ancienttrojamon nor his decedents have been stated to be able to create trojan viruses but its cool and fits the theme of the mon so im going to say he can. also its something for arbormon to do because he was the least utilized of cherubimons' spirits.), and he puts a virus into the code of burninggreymons spirit armor.

moving back to the kids; takuya is devastated. his spirit was RIGHT THERE and now its gone. so he goes off to sulk on his own, when arbormon shows up. takus expecting a fight, but arbormon tells him that hes tired of working for cherubimon and he doesnt want to be evil anymore- starting with giving him his beast spirit! and takuya is desperate to be able to DO SOMETHING so he ignores the fact that his spirit looks weird and that the fractal code (which souldnt be there) arching through it has a dubious shimmer to it (i mean, hes never seen a beast spirit up close. maybe they just look like that?) and grabs it. ...and is IMMEDIATELY forced to digivolve because of the virus.

now, what was supposed to happen was that arbormon would have been able to control him via the virus, essentially giving cherubimon another spirit. HOWEVER. the fun thing about viruses is that the body does not like viruses. and so, burninggreymons body, now activated thanks to having a host, bugs the hell out. so now, he has weird messed up anatomy and the normally meticulously controlled fire in his being is now completely unfettered and is burning at full blast at all times. its so hot, in fact, that it starts to melt his own armor and everything around him. and, on top of THAT, thanks to beast spirits not really liking to be controlled, burninggreymon, scared and disoriented, starts attacking anything that moves.

arbormon decides hes in over his head and sneaks off, leaving this issue to the rest of the gang who show up after he bails because they saw smoke in the direction where taku went off on his own and were worried that he got ambushed. so now everyone has to find a way to get takuya back to normal before he destroys everything around him and probably gets himself killed.

the gang are able to give takuya a moment of clarity in a similar fashion to the anime in just being like "dude chill out were your friends. you know this.". having no idea how to deal with the whole getting stuck as a messed up buggy version of his beast spirit, takuya decides to try slide evolving because even if it doesnt shrug off the virus, hes at least gonna be easier to deal with, plus he had no idea if hed lose control again and it was the only thing he could think of at the time. and it does work! to an extent. but obviously it cant be that easy. and, instead of being able to fully transition between spirits, he gets sorta...stuck in the middle. and THATS how we get flamon, baby. so now everyones trying to find a way to get a digimon antivirus or vaccine or something similar so takuya can actually digivolve again. and also fix burningreymon, hes still fucked up. and heres a bonus sketch because i do not know how to transition to the next subject.

the slide evolution "glitch" KOs takuya, and koji had to watch him while everyone else went to put out the fire taku started(zoe and tommy put out the fires and j.p helped to scout out any fire they missed because he can also fly; koji was really the only one who wasnt necessary so he stayed back). also they got cold water for taku because burninggreymon:burnout mode burned at such dangerously high temperatures that it was still affecting takuya even after he broke free from burnout mode, and he needed to cool down so he didnt die of heat stroke or something. flamon also maintains a relatively toasty body temperature even after he cools down. in fact, burnout mode was so boiling hot that even after takuya returns to normal, hes got a permanently abnormally high body temperature, not enough to be feverish but enough to be noticeable. basically, winters are great and summers are hell. also heres a bonus bonus sketch ft. scuffed spirit of fire line bc this post is long enough and i dont want to type out another whole paragraph

(id like to mention that "flamon is warm" is a headcannon that i have for him no matter what universe, its just more justified in this so i felt like its worth mentioning. You Can Pry Applying Torchic Logic To All Fire Characters Out Of My Cold Dead Hands.) (last thing- @flamon bc they inspired it and also they said they wanted to see it :))

HI I HAVE TWO OTHER QUESTIONS (if thats ok)

1. how did the kids help Takuya out of vritramon: burnout mode? did they just like....hose him off with water or throw ice cubes at him? (joking, joking!)

i would just be worried about tomoki, because this guy seems a LOT more dangerous to even be around compared to regular vritramon...if someone got grabbed by this guy i think they would like, explode into flames LMAO

2. 🥺 did takuya feel better after kouji awkwardly hugged him...? ...i hope he did.....thats such a funny and sad and awkward scene to imagine. nice job takuya you look so Sad that kouji is actually offering to give you a hug. kouji is trying so hard right now even though he is REALLY out of his element. Oh My God.

ofc its okay! honestly im super happy that folk are interested enough about my silly goofy au that theyre reaching out to ask about it :) the gang get burnout mode to un-burnout by basically by just... talking to him. they finally realize that attacking him will only scare him more and instead just try to ground him by just keeping their voices calm and trying to remind him that hes among people that dont want him dead (though tbf they were just attacking him BUT THAT WAS OUT OF SELF DEFENSE BECAUSE IT WAS ON SIGHT. HE SAW THEM AND PUT HIS DUKES UP IMMEDIATELY). which works! and taku gets temporary control, tries to slide evolve, and you know the rest. i actually hadnt thought about tommy in this situation. because that probably WOULD be dangerous for him, being the spirit of ice. tommy may or may not need to sit this one out combat wise or risk getting evaporated. and also maybe zoe bc kaze and zephyr have wings that look very flammable. and the other two would deeefinetely have to keep their wits about them because its probably bad news to get any sort of close combat.

and yes, kojis hug does help. it just...takes awhile and hes just sitting there feeling suuper awkward and hoping nobody sees him because if they do he will Explode and Die. sidenote i saw your comment on the last loredump and 1. im sure he was used as a bargaining chip once. i just. dont know how. and yes he probably cried about it. 2. yes hes soso upset about being a burden and hes aware when he makes situations worse he is such a sad wet cat in this au. i feel like the others would give him tasks to make him feel even a little bit useful because they feel so bad for him because hes TRYING HIS HARDEST! and 3. yes, i am implying that, if takuya hadnt un-burnout-ed, hed burn his core past the point where it could be rehabbed, killing him. but dw that doesnt happen.

sometimes i think about how the flamon episode would look from the perspective of just Some Guy like imagine you're some 30 something year old businessman or whatever going home from your shift at the business factory(tm) and you get bowled over by a fucked up looking 12 year old who just leaped like 8 feet into the air and the second he hits the ground he just starts BOOKING IT on all fours personally that would haunt me for the rest of my life

HELLO i have a question about your au...how is Takuya coping with uhh. still not being able to fight. he tried to evolve because he wanted to help soooo bad and so much happened aaaaand. he still cant help. hows he feeling about that...?

(also did similar stuff happen like in the vritramon episode? did he still beat up kouji and junpei?)

oh he despises it. every time its time to fight he just has to go hide somewhere because hes a mega easy target. because if youre someone like, say, ranamon and you spot little low-power agnimon scampering around the battlefield, you can deduct that a. hes even less likely to do any meaningful damage to you than before and b. hes probably not all that durable and therefore you can easily just grab by the scruff of his neck and use him as a bargaining chip. and at that point, the other kids spirits are as good as yours. and the worst part that i havent yet mentioned: he cant use his fire attacks too much, because it puts strain on his body. since hes only half digimon, he cant really tank the heat as well as he would if he was agnimon. so if he pushes himself too far, he can OVERHEAT to the point of FAINTING. so not only is he practically useless against any mon above champion level, he has to be careful about how much fire he actually uses, because if he k.o.'s himself after being caught alone its curtains. so hes basically been reduced to, at most, lighting the fire at night and being good at scouting ahead since hes smaller than the other spirits and can easily climb things to get a better vantage point. i also imagine hed be trying to help with other non-combat things (so hes at least pulling his weight SOMEHOW) and ending up being kind of pushy and getting in the way anyways. so needless to say, hes very upset. i imagine theres a part where he starts crying in front of koji while everyone else is out doing something (maybe putting out the fires still idk) and koji. has NEVER had to comfort someone before and hes at a COMPLETE LOSS as to what to do. like he WANTS to comfort taku, but he doesnt know how to. so he just like. awkwardly hugs him and hopes that helps. as for burnout modes appearance, burninggrey is currently in a frenzy. hes scared, hes disoriented, hes hurting, and so hes currently got self preservation on the mind and is attacking ANYTHING that gets too close. which includes his friends. now, one would think that you could just step back and let him work things out, except 1. like the canon events of fronteir, hes still burning the area down because he already saw something (arbormon) moving nearby him and freaked out, and 2. if left to his own devices, the blaze that is normally kept contained in his body is melting his being. so, if left for too long, burnout mode would, as the name suggests, destroy himself from the inside out.
