Michi Week: July 27: History

Taichi noticed Mimi had been particularly quiet at their last group meeting, and decided he ought to check in on her. He felt it was only fair, after all. She had helped him own his mistakes, and to move on with all the lessons he could get from them. “It’s my fault you turned back into Koromon.” Taichi remembered the time when he forced his friend to become SkullGreymon, and how upset he was at himself for causing it to happen. He frankly expected everyone to still be rather upset over it, but to his surprise, Mimi caught up with him. “No matter how regretful you feel, there’s nothing you can do about it now.” “You’ve got to keep your spirits up for Koromon’s sake too!” Her words, the desert heat, the feeling of the pit in his stomach, and the look of caring in her eyes stayed fresh in his mind, as if they were kids just minutes ago. This time however, it was his turn to cheer her up. “Hey Mimi.” Taichi said as gently as he could. Mimi spun around, shocked to see Taichi looking at her with the same, thankful and endearing look she was given years ago. “Taichi...How did you know I’d be here?” Mimi replied, barely speaking over the various chimes of the machines nearby. “Sometimes we all need some alone time to deal with things.” Taichi walked up beside her, and smiled. “And sometimes we need someone to reach out, to be honest, but always kind. Besides...I owe you a pep talk after all.” Mimi, in a mixture of a smile and tearing up, slowly held Taichi’s hand. “...Thanks Taichi.”
