any irregularities, if one of these happen to be deleted or something and it's still on the list, please feel free to point out
share so more people can find it!!!!!! there's so many good resources here to use as art references, to use on posts, informational stuff, academic studies and general knowledge on many areas, essays and many other things; so do share around and, I can't stress this enough, add more!

Today is the first day of Kwanzaa
Kwanzaa takes place over seven days, from December 26th through January 1st, with each day dedicated to one of the Seven Principles, the Nguzo Saba. Today, the first day, is dedicated to the principle of Umoja, which focuses on unity. More information about the origins of Kwanzaa and about the Nguzo Saba can be found in the article below, which was published in December 1980 in Invictus, UWM’s longest running Black student newspaper.
The full December 1980 issue of Invictus can be viewed online in our Invictus Digital Collection or in person at the UWM Archives.

Milwaukee Handicraft Monday:
Stripe Extravaganza
These block printed textiles, printed with delightfully dizzying details caught my eye today!
The originals are courtesy of volumes 3 and 7 of Applied Design; Blockprinted Textiles. An educational service prepared by the Milwaukee WPA Handicraft Project. The images shown here, however, we’ve sourced from the our digital collection The Wisconsin Arts Projects of the WPA. This digital collection was made possible with generous financial support provided by The Chipstone Foundation.
The MHP was founded in 1935 by Harriet Clinton, head of the Women’s Division of Wisconsin’s WPA to help unskilled women laborers provide income for their families. Clinton hired Elsa Ulbricht, an art professor at the Milwaukee State Teacher’s College (one of UWM’s predecessor institutions), to direct the project. The MHP hired around 5,000 people in total throughout its highly successful seven-year existence. Read More about the Project. Or, explore more of our Milwaukee Handicraft Monday posts.

Before we kept up with culture through the internet, we kept up with culture through magazines.
In keeping with their apparent mission to become the predominant archive of pre-internet media, they've set up the Magazine Rack, a downloadable collection of over 34,000 digitized magazines and other monthly publications.
