This rascally deva is one of the many illustrated examples I’ve included in the upcoming Proportions Lesson from HTDC.
My aim in this illustration was to give her pose that was as dynamic as possible to show how the proportions of a character warp when they’re posed in perspective.
This is one of the core challenges many of us run into when it comes to drawing comic book characters in complex poses – being able to move the human figure freely on the page, while still making sure they measure up correctly!
I have to admit, this pose was pretty darn tricky to nail – even for me. I actually had to go back over it a number of times before I managed to get it to look right.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT – I’ve created a brand new Comic Art Tutorial where you’ll see the entire inking process for this wild-haired vixen unfold.
The video goes for 30min, and I’ve narrated the entire thing – Walking you through the 3 Step Inking Process I like to use to achieve consistent results in my Comic Book Illustrations.
I’ll also reveal my approach to inking and rendering darker materials, such as the skin-tight lycra outfit this lovely lady is rockin’.
