In a recent award show which was hosted by the “Center of Automotive Management” and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers AG, who together present the “Automotive Innovations Award, Audi A8 has been judged as the most innovative model of 2018 under the premium segment brand

“We are absolutely delighted with these awards,” said Peter Mertens, Board Member for Technical Development at AUDI AG, during the award ceremony which was held on Tuesday evening in Frankfurt am Main.

Among all its innovations the one feature which helped them bag this award was the active suspension which took first place in the rankings. In the case of a side impact, it mitigates the risks for passengers by instantly raising the body by a few centimeters.

A total of 1,296 innovations from all leading automakers involving around 60 brands were incorporated into the 2018 rankings.

Highway Under A Runway

This is true and it’s happening in Varanasi, India. The Lal Bahadur Shastri Airport in Babatpur around 26Km from Varanasi will host India’s first airport which will run a highway below its runway.

As per the reports of TOI, this will help Airport to premises allowing large aircraft to land on the airport, simultaneously expanding the current highway to a 4 lane road.

Germany’s Leipzig Airport has something similar, where the highway is part of airport allowing users to view the gigantic flight to taking off above their head.

The airport plans to expand its runway by building an underpass have gotten a nod from the Airports Authority of India. This arrangement will keep the Varanasi-Lucknow National Highway 56 intact.

This will help expand its airport to expand its runway to 4075 km against the existing 2750 km, allowing larger cargo and Boeing aircraft to land. Officials claim the runway expansion and underpass construction will begin simultaneously.

In the shackles of pollution!

Pollution is an issue that equally exists in every part of the world, developed or underdeveloped countries are no exception either. Have you heard of the dirtiest river in the world?

The Citarum River, Indonesia, is claimed to be the most polluted river in the world, no exceptions! The river forms up to be the main fresh water source for the sinking city of Jakarta. But the evils of humanity over the years have led this river to be nothing else but a waste dumping ground.

Well, the initiative of two Indonesian brothers has probably turned this vicious cycle upside down. Gary and Sam Bencheghib, are two Indonesian citizens who have successfully persuaded their government to finally take an action and start cleaning up their country’s Citarum River. The two brothers decided to create a shocking visual of the world’s most polluted river by Kayaking down it on two plastic bottle kayaks made from repurposed trash. They paddled throughout the river, collecting garbage and filming the entire activity. Their initiative known as the Plastic Bottle Citarum – is to help people think about the dangers that pollution has on humanity in return for causing it. As per sources, located on Java, the Citarum river is the water source of 15 million people for drinking, cooking and bathing.

The film recorded by the brothers was put into a documentary, and then published online to increase awareness. The narrative film in the end reached the administration’s Waste Management division, Ministry of Environment, which reacted emphatically by laying out a crisis design. The division, will overview the waterway to make a guide of most dirtied parts, inside a four-month time frame. The tidying up will be led by the group with the assistance of the 13 leaders along the waterway.

Kangana Ranaut, has been on a spree for the past few years. Ever since Queen hit the hearts of viewers, she hasn’t looked back! Delivering exceptional performances seems like a piece of cake for her.

Yet, this next project that she’s taking under her wing might be quiet the challenge for the bubbly heroine. Soon after finishing the filming for her upcoming film – Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhasi, Kangana is set to take on the bold role of Arunima Sinha.

After all, the story of Arunima Sinha is an inspirational heartache in its own. She was a national level volleyball player who was pushed from a running train by some robbers in 2011 because she tried to resist them. This gruesome incident resulted in the amputation of one of her legs below the knee and in turn also destroyed her athletic career. But even such horrors couldn’t bring down the pillar of her morale. Indeed, on 21st May 2013 at 10:55 am after a hard toil of 17 hours, she successfully became the first ever female amputee to have climbed the Mount Everest. In her expedition towards the summit, she took a total of 52 days and acclaimed her ascent by pressing a written message on a small cloth in the snow. Regarding which she says –

“It was my tribute to ShankaraBhagwan, and Swami Vivekananda who have been an inspiration throughout my life”

We wish her heroics are portrayed to the fullest by the actor and hope she leaves no stone unturned to spread Arunima’s untold story

The Evils of Demonetization

Today, India’s very first “Black Day” has dawned upon us. On this day last year Prime Minister NarendraModiji, declared his all-out war on black money and quiet literally the struggling middle class. He initiated a bold move via a television broadcast to the nation; announcing that all 500- and 1,000-rupee currency notes (making up 86 percent of India’s then banknotes in value terms) would “no longer be legal tender.”  This abrupt-yet-drastic decision later came to be known as the “Demonetization”.

His great reform caused massive disruption to n number of Indian lives. It was a terrible experience for the daily struggling middle class people. Facing problems for accessing cash even for daily needs due to endless queue’s at the ATM’s. More than 100 deaths were reported, linked to exhaustion after standing for long hours waiting for their turn to replace the currency or for making withdrawals.

The former PM of India, Manmohan Sigh, even called Modi’s action a “coercive step”. Let’s take a look at what “Demonetization” achieved –

According to RBI, 15.28 trillion rupees ($235billion) worth of currency has been deposited in banks up to June 30th this year which either means that there was no significant black money in cash or most of the ill-gotten cash had already been legitimized by keepers.

The cost for printing new currency notes and recalibrating ATM machines was way too huge.

Critics lashed out by terming it as a “silly” move, ArunShourie, an economist and former union minister under a BJP government, said that demonetization was not a move against black money. “Those who possess black money, or who have black assets, don’t hold them in cash.”

The Indian economy has slowed considerably since demonetization. In the April-June quarter this year, the country recorded a growth of 5.7 percent.

Sectors such as real estate, manufacturing and finance have been under constant stress over the past year.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and some other states have also faced agrarian discontent with regular protests from farmers.

Demonetization has only pushed the Indian economy towards more formal ways of operating and expanded the country’s tax base.

Other than that and some minor advantages, it has been one hell of a ride for India. PM Modi’s trump card has completed a toll of one year today and yet no significant changes came India’s way other than trouble
