with all of these protests happening, it is important that you know what your rights as a protestor are.
the right to remain silent. if police asks you anything, you are not obligated to answer them. however, if you are placed under arrest, you must respond when they ask you to identify yourself. although their job is supposed to be public servants, they ultimately serve nobody but the rich and powerful, so please be careful with what you say. do not say anything else without a lawyer.
the right to photograph anything in plain view, including federal buildings and police.
if you are placed under arrest, you have the right to ask why.
the right to protesting without a permit. protesting and free assembly is your constitutional right as an american.
you have the right to deny consent to be searched or to have your belongings searched.
