San Diego Union Tribune: NEW APP A GLOBAL WORKPLACE FOR VIRTUAL TEAMS

“Meetings are indispensable when you don’t want to do anything,” said economist John Kenneth Galbraith.
A Microsoft survey would seem to support that statement: the study said employees globally spend an average of 5.6 hours a week in meetings — and 69 percent said those meetings are unproductive and unnecessary.
The Palo Alto tech company MetaMoJi is out to change that, at least virtually.
Share Anytime, a collaboration app launched last month by MetaMoJi, acts as an interactive whiteboard for team note-taking and document sharing. Launched across iOS, Android and Windows 8 mobile platforms, Share Anytime instantly connects team members anywhere in the world, regardless of their device.
The app supports interaction for up to 100 people working in real time in the same digital workspace. Its features include a handwriting recognition program and a chat bar so online meetings participants can discuss the information without interrupting the speaker.
The app is a complementary tool to popular meeting solutions like Google Hangouts, Skype, Cisco WebEx, GoToMeeting and TeamViewer.
“What we’re trying to do with Share Anytime is give dozens of people the opportunity to simultaneously interact,” a company spokeswoman said. “It’s a way to bring your meetings to life.”
The app bagged two innovation and design awards at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. MetaMoJi is also known for its Notes Anytime app.
