fourandsix is a company that detects image manipulation for mostly forensic purposes.  lauren margolis talked about them in her article for photoshelter, "how to determine the authenticity of a photograph."

saw this in paris vogue, septembre 2011, and thought it was a great example of surrealism and digital photographic compositing being used in fashion advertising. 

raquel zimmermann's head doesn't really glow like that...nor is it exploding(does it look like it's exploding?).

also interesting to note how the composited sky and scenery images are super grainy while the model, gown and foreground have nice smooth tones.  the dress is, after all, what's being sold here.  well, the dress and the fantasy world that mcqueen (may he rest in peace) was famous for.

sooooooo great.  i love things completely out of place like this. 

in the digital image illustration 2 class there's an upcoming assignment where i'll be asking students to put a subject in an interesting/unusual/mis-matched location in order to grab the viewer's attention.  this is a perfect example.
