Hail Selene, O All-Shining Goddess! May your silver light guide thy Devotees in all endeavours <3 Blessed Dikhomenia
Blow kisses to Artemis, Hecate, and Selene to celebrate the full moon. 🌚
Full moon, guys! Praise Selene, the All-Shining Goddess on this lovely Dikhomenia!
"O silver Lady
Pulled by holy bulls
Of firm celestial strain
Divide the month, honorable Mene
Today bears thy noble crown
Tauriform Selene
All-brilliant smile at us
Lovable Goddess, resplendent
Your pale kisses travel
To whom sings your gentle name
Caregiver, Of many titles
Be kind and supportive to us "
“Moon Invocation” - A prayer to Selene, Artemis and Hekate.
“In the clearest night Selene presents Herself Sparkling, unparalleled, lively Goddess The kind titanid has in company Noble Artemis of the Golden Bow And Ourania Hecate, bull-crowned Resplendent and beautiful, sacred ones! Hear my prayer! Grant good fortune and abundance Love and protection May no spell come my way Without Hekate close to approach With your torches enlighten me And against evil may you keep me And may the sweetness of Artemis Save us and be guiding us In the dark illuminated night By honored and bright Selene Bull-led goddess Mene [Moon] of many names! Khairete Theai! Great Goddesses! Holy ones! I will remember you again When the full moon breaks the month in half!”
Portuguese:
Khairete Theai! Grandes Deusas! Sagradas! Lembrarei-me de vós outra vez Quando o plenilúnio partir o mês!
I know it doesn’t rhyme in english, but hey, that’s my Dikhomenia - Full Moon, not a recon festival but just a term to indicate the half-month of the lunar calndary 0 invocation to the Goddess of the moon, Selene and the other Theai who are most associated with Her - Hekate and Artemis.
May this full moon brings you all many blessings!
Oulete!
So oxen-driven Moon divides The sacred month in half A horned-crown smiles
Ritual Suggestion: Celebrate the Full Moon for Selene as the “Dikhomenia”
Attention, the historical sources of this celebration is lacking, only attested in a very outdated book, so this is mostly just another basic ritual to honour the Moon-Goddess.
In this ritual we celebrate Selene, Goddess of the Moon, as the powerful and beautiful lady who is witness of all that happens in the night. We pray and honour her with hymns and libations of milk, wine or honey. Also, it's the perfect time to worship the Chthonic Gods and pratice witchcraft if you’re an adept of it.
It's a powerful night time with the Gods and everything is boosted. Don't make any promises under the silvery gaze of Selene that you can't keep! She is the one the watches over people at night!
My usual ritual recommendations are:
Use hymns to honour and summon the Gods, they're very powerful ancient texts about their greatness. I think they're extra special and sometimes I feel people don't use it enough.
Pour a libation but don't take part of it to yourself if you're making an offering to the Chthonic Gods, they deal with some of the most humble work among gods and get a special treatment, their libation type is called khoes because of that.
Have a chat, be open and personal. Your Gods are with you when you call for them. Trust them - and yourself!
Sometimes signs happen to show their presence: Dogs bark when Hekate name is said, the clouds move away from the bright full moon when you call for Selene. This sort of stuff.
Use khaire! -"hail!" if you feel like it. The plural is "khairete".
Medidate, chat, do divination! It's your personal time with the Gods, honestly. They'll listen to you, friend.
May Selene be in your favour!
Eirene! (Peace!)
Today's mood is FULL MOON TONIGHT.
Kala Dikhomenia! Praise Selene!
Dikhomenia: Full Moon festival for Selene, also honoured Artemis and Hekate, asking for protection and healing in these dire times.
