Usually I’m not very connected to moon deities but Artemis II mission really gave me a new perspective on her! It’s unfathomable to me how she plays a major role in our earth’s life; regulating breeding, hunting, migration for so many species, forming tides, ensuring a stable climate, acting as a muse, timekeeper, guider. Her colors, caused by mineral in her surface has kept me in awe since I first saw it.

It’s also incredible to think about how she views the earth in phases as well! I actually have never thought about this before and it’s so adorable 🥹

Selene is the Goddess/Personification of the Moon, she is a member of the Titans but sided with the Olympians during the Titanomachy, along with her brother, Helios, she is responsible for the rise and fall of the moon each night. i worship this. ancient statues and paintings and hymns are cool for imagination, but this is the moon that i pray to. this is the tiny planet that earth snagged up in it’s gravitational grasp like a treasure! this is the giant rock that circles the sky, that affects our tides and the behavior of most living things and inspires our art and grants a sense of safety in the dark and reminds us of the relentless passing of time in a beautiful ceaseless show of light with a pattern that mimics life’s highs and lows? this is a God we are looking at!!!

my brain can barely wrap around the perspective. it’s such a subversion of our reality— our home planet looking small while wearing the same shadows the moon normally flaunts. the moon gets to observe the same cycles that she gifts to us reflected back on our own planet’s surface! and we get to have a high quality picture of a GOD looking down on earth oh my GOODNESS i could squeal

Here's a devotional piece I drew for Lady Selene <33 it's based on Bouguereau's painting titled Evening Mood, as it always reminded me of her . Hope you like it <3

I'm trying something a little different with my art , as in I'm trying to include more colors to make it pop more if that makes sense :')

Also I added stars around Lady Selene's crescent moon because she's often described as being surrounded by stars , as if they dance around her in a way .
