1962. Dilys Laye (1934-2009) and Liz Fraser (1930-2018) in "Carry On Cruising" is a British comedy film, the sixth in the series of 31 Carry On films (1958–1992).

Actresses listen to the British portable transistor radio Murphy B385. It was the first model of portable transistor radio, released by the famous British company Murphy Radio in 1959. Due to its stylish design with a large round tuning scale and push-button controls, it has become an iconic accessory of the turn of the 1950s and 1960s.

Dilys [Laye, who was also in the cast of The Boy Friend] and I pooled expenses and moved out of the Piccadilly Hotel and into a single-bedroom apartment at the Hotel Park Chambers, on West 58th St. It had a living room, a closet-sized kitchen with a tiny fridge, hot plate, and sink, a bedroom with twin beds, and a bathroom.

I discovered that Dilys was wonderfully gregarious. Sometimes she would bring a boyfriend back to the apartment. They would occasionally become amorous, so I would retreat to the bedroom, but I could’t help overhearing the mounting sexual exertions taking place on the couch in the next room.

Neil came down from Canada whenever he could. Most often Dilys let us take the bedroom, maybe because her friends could make their exit more easily from the living room.
