🤕 Full wire gauntlet at broken!legato.
Violent Prompts
He didn't have time to duck, he barely had time to turn at the hissed sound of his name from a mechanical voice box he recognized. Half a second to register the mass of metal wires flying toward his face before impact.
His nose crunched but the pain from his face is immediately overshadowed by the impact of the back of his head against the wall behind him. He's not sure how he ends up on the ground, darkness between one blink and the next, but there's a blood garbled noise of utter agony as his back hits the ground. He can't move past the waves pain, not even to curl up and protect himself from further assault. The only retaliation he can manage is a weak attempt with his own threads to drag her off-balance, backward and away from him.
It won't be enough if she wants to take out all the years of abuse on his already broken body.
"Going to finish the job Knives didn't deign to, Aves?" He wheezes past the pain and blood and doesn't even try to get up.
It wasn't often he ventured out of the little town on the edge of Jennora Rock, both because of the difficulty and the danger inherent in attempting to travel. However, the next town over was larger and had more resources, things that couldn't or wouldn't easily be delivered via their tiny thomas delivery. So he ventured, hitched a ride out with a list of medical supplies and books to pick up.
It should be simple enough; meet the shopkeeper, hand over the order, pick up the supplies, head back the next day. The odds of anyone spotting him were low, especially without his white coat and with a hood pulled up over his blue hair.
Who would think to look for Legato Bluesummers, dead for the last two years and change, in a market filled with humans while he hobbled around with a cane? He's even slower walking once he's retrieved the supplies, making his way carefully through side streets to avoid the crowds. Just get to the inn, get a room, and lay low. That was all he needed to manage.
"Hey, you, you look like you could use some help carryin' some a those goods!" A male voice behind him, followed by two more calling in support. Dammit, he was so close.
"I don't need any assistance gentlemen, thank you." He kept walking but the men clearly didn't have broken spines and caught up to him quickly, one shoving him against the wall of a nearby building. He yelped as his back collided with the wall but held onto his bag of supplies. He wouldn't give them the satisfaction of taking it so easily.
"So ungrateful, we just want to help out a fella in need! Lemme carry it for you." A flash of red down the street caught his eye and he cringed, knowing one way or another his time hiding was going to be up.
"Fuck off and let me go," he hisses while they laugh and one reaches out to yank his hood off, tumbling blue hair free.
"Hey now, we're just trying to look out for ya! C'mon, we'll escort ya and everything."
Oh if only this had happened two years ago, he could have broken every bone in their bodies for touching him. Now with body and powers so damaged and reduced, the only thing he can manage is reaching out a thread for the one person he didn't want around and jerking Vash's steps in the right direction to see. Maybe he'd help, maybe he wouldn't, but Legato would rather chance it then lose his supplies. Likely more if the way they were crowding close was any indication.
