Oh absolutely. I’ve had an idea similar but it’s my belief that this would not happen until they’re both realized.
This is because Amir’s perception of Jean Loo is impacted by him reflecting Jean’s dislike of being a toilet back at him.
We see with Bathsheba, Amir reflects her ego. I believe (maybe subconsciously) Amir’s dislike towards Jean has been exaggerated greatly by Jeans inner attitude towards himself. Thus we get lines like “His disgusting little toilet prints will never come out!”
Once they’re realised, Amir would finally be free from being a reflection and be able to see Jean clearly
