Led Zeppelin
When I was 14, I got my first CD player, a copy of "Dark Side Of The Moon" and "Led Zeppelin: Remasters". In retrospect, nearly 20 years later, I think my parents wanted me to hate music made after 1974. It was a valiant, yet futile try.
Here's a list of things that come to mind when I think of Led Zeppelin:
Jimmy Page playing his guitar with a comically oversized bow.
Alister Crowley.
John Bonham running over his chauffer.
"No Stairway".
The only vinyl I ever saw on an endcap at Best Buy.
Sean Combs sampling "Kashmir".
Robert Plant's golden locks
I much prefer the White Stripes or Black Keys paying tribute/ripping off (yer pick, spud) old Delta bluesmen. At least they both have the common decency to be succinct.
I'll give them this, though: if Led Zeppelin hadn't existed, then British punk probably wouldn't have been half as fiery.
I'm fucking done with it.
