Dinogate??? 🦕🦖 (let me cook and look insane thank you. PLEASE read this insane ramble I just had!)
(haven't seen anyone talk about this yet btw) So, I noticed a dinosaur figure in Will's room in S4 a while ago, but I kinda brushed it off... until I started connecting the dots. Where else do we see dinosaur toys? That's right. At Mike's! (And these two look kinda similar lol👀)
The show has been showing us Mike's dinosaur toys since S1 (hi dinosaur Rory!👋) all the way through S4 — they're in his room or down in the basement.
And guess what? Little kid Will's room had them too (like in S2)
(OH MY GOD. Okay, writing this post just made me realize something else — the dinosaur in Will's room in S2 looks like a brachiosaurus (correct me if I'm wrong!), and it's kinda bluish... and Mike has what I think is also a brachiosaurus in S3, but it's YELLOW... I literally had to turn up the brightness on my screen to be sure about Will's, and it's definitely a blue-ish tone. THIS IS FUCKING INSANE.)
I know, I know, they're just toys, lots of kids have them. But hear me out. Let me be insane. JUST IMAGINE: We all know Mike and Will have been friends since kindergarten, right? Imagine little Mike and Will playing with these toys together when they were kids. OR, what if one of the dinosaurs was a gift from little Mike to Will (miwi😭)? We know the Byers weren't well-off, and Mike had a ton of toys (especially dinosaurs! they show us that). And when Will had to move to California at the end of S3, he took one with him (maybe the very dinosaur we see in S4 was a gift from little Mike 🥹). A toy that reminds him of Mike and their childhood. And when he unpacked in his new room, he placed it right where he could see it, as a core memory of Mike. I'M SOBBING 😭😭😭 God.. I wish I could draw. I'd draw little Mike and Will playing with these dinos in a heartbeat. Or the moment Will unpacks in his new room and finds it, all those childhood memories rushing back...
