I wonder if that’s why some people on here dislike childhood friends to lovers ships, because they don’t value the inherent magic of falling in love with your childhood friend. They see the romance part as boring, without relating to the idea that the pre-history is what makes it so beautiful and powerful. If it’s “just a childhood crush,” then it has no significance. So all of this comes down to how you view childhood and the sacredness of a bond like Mike and Will. To me, nothing will ever compare precisely because nothing can replace that weight. No one will ever understand the weight of those swings, the weight of crazy together.
