“Some things jus’ come easier to some people more than other’s Dion, you’ll get the hang of it, I promise.” Deunan draped an arm over the girl’s shoulder and leaned Dion into Deunan’s shoulder.
“Y’know, when I first started training like this, under my shitty Dad, I was the worst, messed up so many times and went to bed each night with new bruises and new cuts. I’m not the perfect soldier you and your sister think I am, but with years of practice, here I am, still trying to hide the scar from the garrote wire that got wrapped around my neck during training when I was your age.”
Dion felt comforted by her friend and listened to her rags to riches story. She hated failure, and she hated being second best. “It’s hard to believe that you were anything less than awesome, Deunan.” She admitted.
Dion looked down for a moment and perked up a little. “I can’t give up... I have to get better.”
