// INFERIORITY COMPLEX // It’s something I’ve struggled with for all my life. - Being a former state printer, I developed a rather muscular physique, & I used to remember so many instances (as far as 17yrs back) when I was told by casting agencies that I was too muscular/not feminine enough for certain jobs. Some agents said I was not fair enough, others told me that I had to loose more weight to get booked. - Comparing myself to the “ideal woman” in magazines only made me feel worse, & left me wishing for better features (higher nose, fairer skin, bigger eyes, etc). - It was a long journey of self-acceptance, but I eventually learned that nobody can make us feel inferior without our consent. - We are as beautiful or as unattractive as we believe ourself to be. It is NOT a power anyone can have over us. - Easier said than done, but when I decided to stop living a life waiting for people to validate me, & in turn, use my stubbornness to make sure I didn’t shortchange my destiny by living according to society’s standards of being “beautiful” or “perfect”, my life began to change. - I learnt to look for confidence in the other things in life: -Knowing who I was to the people significant to me -Putting extra effort into the things that scared me -Basically just stop thinking about myself & start putting others first. - If you think about it, the lack of confidence is just an exaggerated fear of rejection & the desire for acceptance. - Always remember that YOU ARE ENOUGH, & you were fearfully & wonderfully made. - Love you. - #HannahTan #Introvert - In this picture, #DiorBackstage with 2 of @diormakeup’s most prominent international makeup artists. - #diormy - Special thanks to @clariseching Shot by @kl_aesthetic (at Asia/Kuala_Lumpur)
