How can you tell the right hand god on the front is Iris? She has all the attributes of Hermes - but white skin. Black (or darker, but this is Black-Figure) = Male, White (or lighter, but again, this is Black-Figure) = Female in the ancient art of Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece.

Nonsense inscriptions are really interesting! They tend to be interpreted as a sign that literacy and writing had a value, but that literacy was low enough that you could get away with a pseudo-inscription.
