hi! i noticed on one of your cosplays (davesprite?) that you had white pants that faded into a color and i was wondering if you could point me in a direction of a tutorial cuase ive been looking everywhere and typing "white to color fade" into google isnt helping, im lost
Ahhh I didn’t use a tutorial I kinda just did it, but let me give you a little like run down of how to basically do it and see if it makes sense to you.
the technique I am pretty sure is called dip dyeing but basically you kinda pre-wet what ever you are dyeing to a little past where you want the dye. It did it in stages to get a more gradual fade. Dip it into a bucket of dye and only keep it in for a small amount of time like half a minute and just kinda pull it out slowly and repeat this process just don’t dip in as far. once you have done that a few times hang it up over the bucket and let it drip dry for a bit. Then get another bucket mix it with water and the dye color set. Which you can get in RIT it is a purple and white bottle. dunk it in that water and swirl it around and leave it in there for half an hour or so. I only wore those pants when I wore that costume so I haven’t actually washed them so I don’t know what that will do to the dye. also the best way to find a tutorial on this process is to actually look up dip dyeing. Or ‘Ombre/Gradient Dye on Fabric’ if you just search for fading you will get a lot of results about how color fades out over time.here is a video I just found super quick that might be more help to you! ^Click the sentence!^
Honestly I probably should of looked something up instead of just being like ‘Psshaahh I know how to do this.’ but yeah there you go that video explains it pretty well. I am gonna post this public hope you don’t mine so I can tag it and have it appear in my FAQ page!
