Just a Dream-- Chapter 2
--Just a Dream-- Chapter 2
-- Harry’s P.O.V.
-- I lifted up Kennedy’s chin, kissing her softly on the lips. It was a way of reminding her she was mine. I prayed she always would be. There was something about the feeling of Kennedy in my arms that made me feel so real, so complete, and I never wanted to let that go. She turned her head to look at her friends, who all seemed to be having a good time. “Do you ever think it’s strange?” She asked me, tone serious. “Think what’s strange?” I asked her, not quite understanding. “That we’re together, you and I. I mean, you’re… well, Harry Styles. And I’m me. I don’t deserve you.” She said, her nose scrunched up the way it does when she’s thinking hard. “What? No! I don’t think it’s strange at all. I mean, it’s not like we’re that far off in age, and don’t call me that. You know I hate it.” I told her, referring to her calling me Harry Styles. I loved everything she called me. Haz, Hazza, Love, Babe, Harold, Edward, Harry, and Styles, but I couldn’t deal with Harry Styles. It seemed as if Harry Styles was a completely different person. With Kennedy, I could just be Harry, and not some messed up celebrity. She nodded absentmindedly, still not convinced. “Why are you thinking about this?” I asked her. “Were they sending you hate again? Babe, I can stop it! We can both delete our twitters. I don’t want this to be hurting you.” I said, worried. “No, no, it’s not that.” She said. But by her wavering and weak voice, I could tell she was lying. I sighed, not wanting to upset her. If I pressed the issue for too long, she’d get annoyed, mad, and emotional all at the same time, and it destroyed me to see her that way. I studied her for a second, as she was lost in thought. The laughter and chattering drowned out in the background and I lost myself in her eyes. She had green eyes, but to call them green didn’t do them justice. No, they were like emeralds, shining underneath the warm sun. When she was mad, they were green fire, blazing with rage, fury, and hatred. When she was calm, they were like the ocean waves, shining with happiness. When she was excited, they were like fireworks, alive in the dark July sky, bursting with energy. There was so much you could learn about her by just her eyes, and I was dying to know more. Her lips were a perfect shade of pink, always perfectly formed. When she smiled, there was a slight trace on dimples on her cheeks. When she was lost in thought, her lips pulled into a thin line, and her nose scrunched up like a rabbit’s. She had faded freckles scattered across her nose, but they blended with her skin so perfectly, they hardly appeared to be there. Her ears were slightly pointed, which made her look elf-like in a cute kind of way. She always had her long, brown hair tucked behind her ears or pulled up into a high ponytail, often tied off with a pink bow. She was incredible at volleyball. She’d been playing since the seventh grade, and was now on the varsity team, which was incredibly hard to make. She was smart. Not the kind of smart where you have to be right all of the time, although she could sometimes be that way, too, but the kind of smart where she was modest about it, yet she knew it was there. She’d gotten all As her whole life. She was smarter than me, but, then again, not many people were smarter than her, and a lot of people were smarter than me. I suddenly realized how lucky I was to have her. How she could have gone for any guy, but she settled for me. And she wasn’t easy to get, believe me. We were best friends for almost three years. I’d asked her out multiple times, but she had said she wasn’t ready to make that step in our relationship yet. She looked back at me, and the thin line that was her lip formed into a smirk. “What’s so interesting, Styles?” She asked me. “You,” I replied.

“Oh my gosh, that was so fun!” I squealed, sipping my iced mocha. It was in the end of January, but I couldn’t stand warm drinks, I hadn’t the slightest idea why. I was bundled up in yellow jeans, a gray shirt, a yellow scarf, and my new black combat boots. I shuffled my feet to keep myself warm, and rubbed my hands together quickly. I, of everyone, forgot my jacket. We’d just returned from the premiere of Mockingjay, Part Two, and the boys had to leave for a last minute sound check, so we thought we’d stop by Starbucks to grab a quick drink. “And Niall…” I sighed. “Ugh, he’s so adorable!” I said, twirling my wavy brown hair around my fingers. Ariana swirled her coffee around in its cup, not meeting anyone’s eyes. She was lost in very, very deep thought. Kennedy nodded. “Yeah, I know! He’s like my older brother. I love him so much! Omg, you guys would be an adorbs couple!” she said. She had this habit of using half text speak, and half not. I was flattered by her words, even though I knew they were true. We would look adorable together. I had light brown hair and blue eyes, which is what he liked in a girl, and he had light brown hair and blue eyes. We were a completely perfect match! I sighed, losing myself in a daydream. “Kait?” Annabeth said, waving her hand in front of my face. “Huh? Oh, um, sorry.” I giggled. “So, I guess now would be the best time to tell you guys…” Kennedy said, raising and eyebrow. “Oh no! You broke up already? I would’ve bet a few more years on the two of you!” Maya whined. “What?” Kennedy laughed. “No! They boys were nominated for a Grammy!” She said happily. “What? That’s great!” Ariana said, perking up. “And…” Kennedy started. “There’s more?” Annabeth asked jokingly. “We get to go with them!” She finished, setting down her drink triumphantly. I let out a squeal. “As their dates?” I asked excitedly. Kennedy nodded. “Of course, one of us would go with Josh, but that’d be okay, right?” We all nodded in unison. “The Grammies…” Maya whispered in amazement. It had always been her dream to go to the Grammies. Although she’d rather be performing, she’d settle for watching. Maya had a pretty good stage voice. I mean, it wasn’t like she was torturing anyone who listened to her, that’s for sure. “Well, on the topic of dates… Do we get to choose who we go with?” Ariana asked curiously. “I’m not sure…” Kennedy said. “I call Harry, if we do.” Maya joked. “Oh, haha.” Kennedy said, rolling her pretty green eyes. “Oh ehm gee!” I said in realization. “We need outfits! Let’s go!” I said, dragging them to the car.
