Septembermorrow day 7 & 8 2014
i drove back to town listening to closing time by leonard cohen.
Gold and I had earlier texted in elaborate metaphors. long text of future and friends providing light, mostly gibby.
whats the future without friends?
I drove down new circle road and stopped by aquacalientes behind deja vu and the greyhound station. there weren’t any appealing pinatas so i left and drove to the bay to buy a glass bong. they told me to put aregeno into the bong to make it look like weed. i told them i was making a film and that pot wasn’t on my mind. i told them at least the part about the gasmask, and they seemed to be into it.
i drove to h express and picked up some liquid latex, vampire blood, and sponges. the price was around 31$ as was the bong. so with gas i spent 70 dollars today.
with directions from martin i found a grocery store on alexandria. there were finally some pinatas that differed from the underwater mine pinatas, round monstrosities dressed with party hats. i met kevin, the man who may have worked there or may have just been hanging out there.
he asked, “is this for you or for your son?”
“I’m making a movie,” I responded
“oh,” he took down the pinata and gave it to me, he tore open the back and told me i could put the candy inside.
by the time i was done picking up the pinata it was twenty minutes after 5 and mason asked about our eta. i texted gibby, “ready?”
“sure,” he texted back
and i picked him up after taking a phantom shit in his toilet and we headed to mason’s. we read through the script. mason’s friend Alan was there, he looked like that vampire from the munster’s except much older. he said he was an actor, or had been a stage actor.
so maybe we’ll put him in something, but how often do we have old men in our scripts...
the readthru went pretty well. we talked briefly about the difficulty of making a glass breakaway bong.
tomorrow we’re going to have to hustle
