We're sure that there will be more will follow!
Xbox co-founder Otto Berkes is leaving Microsoft after being at the company since 1993.
In thanking well-wishers on Twitter, Berkes said leaving Microsoft after 18 years isn’t easy. But he said he was “very excited” about what’s next.
Berkes is moving on to work at another company outside of Seattle, although he did not say which company, according to The Seattle Times.
According to his blog, Berkes authored the first software-accelerated OpenGL pipeline that “enabled real-time 3D rendering and led the development team through several Windows releases.” He also developed DirectX graphics through DirectX 8.
Berkes joined Ted Hase, Kevin Bachus and Seamus Blackey in developing the Xbox game to compete with Sony PlayStation 2. Berkes was the last of the Xbox developers still at Microsoft.
