So this is more of a HC/idea (or theory, possibly) of mine, I just wanted to share the idea

Do you think Dirk/Clarence 'style' can change if you get into a certain aesthetic of clothing?

By what I mean, if you suddenly get into gyaru, Lolita, or otherwise, would the clothing on him be different?

Would you happen to have hcs that kind of relate to this?

I do! I think his core personality will stay the same, but it'll bring out certain aspects more over others

Dirk Changes based on changes in Style

goth = a much more melancholic Dirk and a more subdued Clarence

punk/grunge = you hardly see Clarence, and Dirk tends to snap and lash out in fights with Harper more

cozy style clothes = Dirk being much more cuddly and less likely to argue

gyaru = Dirk and Lux are now on a similar wavelength with sass

Lolita = He's now a lot more in touch with his feminine and cutsey side

I kinda feel like this would apply to Barry too tbh! for the same reasons

I think Dirk Strider eats new england clam chowder by the bucket and i think he dips either an italian club sandwich or the greasiest burger known to man into it like you dip grilled cheese into tomato soup.

Dave: Aggressive Stalker/delusional Yandere. He likes leaving gifts for you. Roses, dead animals, chocolate, you name it he’ll leave it. He’ll also send you his favorite pictures he’s taken of you-How did he manage one of you in the shower?!-. He won’t approach you, and if you do end up dating him it would be of your own volition, not knowing he’s your stalker. It’ll only get worse once you do start dating him, the gifts will increase and he’ll have a hard time not letting slip he’s the one who leaves all of them, as he wants the validation for the gifts. The delusional side will always show that you have to love them and him no matter what, and he probably already thought you were dating before you asked him.

John: Two faced Yandere/Cutesy Yandere. Very hard to tell that he is a yandere at first. He does his absolute best to be sweet and kind and forgiving, the kind of clenches fist when he sees S/O talk to anyone else, adores you and clings to your arm, but never enough to be truly worrying. He just wants to love you, but he’s also likely to snap at too much, and be worse than a sadistic yandere at that point. If you turn down his affection he’ll snap and then he’s REALLY all over you, and tends to be the kidnapping type.

Jake: Aggressive Stalker/manipulative Yandere. Similar to Dave in leaving gifts, but also is the shoulder you cry on in fear about the stalker. Promises to keep you safe and even stay over just to make sure you aren’t too worried about the stalker. His goof ball idiot act makes it all the more convincing too, until you’re falling for your hero, not realizing that the stalker doesn’t seem to mind him.

Dirk: Silent Stalker Yandere. Very in control of the situation, planning out every meeting he has with you down to the very last detail. Nothing is an accident when it comes to Dirk. He knows your favorite food, all your allergies. He isn’t the kind of stalker that gives gifts, rather the one that has a huge shrine dedicated to you, and just wants you to be totally happy, with him.

dirk is an autistic trans man. don’t worry, the epilogues aren’t real and can’t hurt you

he can’t swim and is terrified of the ocean

he absolutely loves plants. his immediate reaction to touching a plant for the first time was to cry uncontrollably for 5 minutes and then run around jake’s planet for multiple hours touching all the leaves and grass

following on from that one, after the game is done and he’s living on earth c, jade and jake get him some to keep in his house. it helps him to function better having something to routinely take care of (and also he never stops loving the feel of leaves when he’s stressed)

he has a habit of laser-focusing on a single thing, sometimes for days at a time. 9 times out of 10 if dirk won’t answer anyone’s messages he’s probably passed out in his workshop because he’s been welding together a toaster that burns the entire script of the bee movie onto the toast for the past 37 hours instead of sleeping or eating

he either speaks with a nearly indecipherable stutter, or is completely mute. i know that this is technically debunked by canon what with him speaking coherently but it’s still a headcanon/au that i really like

that’s all of my favourites but if i think of any other ones i’ll add them. i just fuckin. epilogues suck a wang challenge, dirk is a good boy

so i just realized that dirk not only lives in texas, but he lives in post-global warming, waterworld texas. dirk probably lived with the fucking wildest temperatures with nothin but a weirdly overpowered a/c unit or some shit. like... i cant stop imagining dirk just, crunching the fuck down on some ice. “i brush my teeth well, what the hell could go wrong” and he just does it all his life. first time he does it in front of other human beings theyre all incredibly worried by the lack of pain on his face. what the fuck do you mean you dont have sensitive teeth. what the fuck. i know you have a robot twin but i doubt that hes dumb enough to eat robot ice. anyway.

thats also why i think he sticks swords in cold places. have any of yall ever held a real cold knife on a real hot day? i live in rural ass-fuck arkansas, where the humidity makes up for it even when theres a cool summer day. in the summer, i sometimes stick the metal jewelry i plan to wear the next day in the freezer overnight. when i did summer band, i knew kids who would put shit that had to stay cold in plastic bags and put em in their personal water jugs- that insulation is insane, btw. anyways. the next step after that is pretty obvious- start stickin metal things in cold places. and dirk has no fucking chill. pun not intended, but welcomed all the same. i just love imagining dirk one day goes inside to get some cold shit for him and the people hes working with and he turns and shouts “anyone want some cold metal stuff? i put a bunch of bracelets in the freezer last night” and dave fucking Ascends. he knew there had to be a reason. he knew it.

Ok I know nobody cares, but I just thought of my favourite ever headcanon. Dirk Strider is diabetic. One day he realises he’s been feeling exhausted and dehydrated for ages, and that’s weird because “Striders don’t get sick”. So after a frickton of research he figures out that his pancreas has decided to stop working on him. Doctors (and advanced medical supplies) aren’t easy to come by in Future Hell Texas, so he builds his own insulin pump and suddenly everything’s okay, he actually has some energy and he can put up a fight against his bots again. He even programs a retinal-scanning blood glucose monitor into the ridiculous anime shades, and Hal bugs him whenever his A1c is too high until he connects the monitor and the pump so it’s always at an ideal level. This does mean that when Hal malfunctions or lashes out, Dirk can suddenly find himself with dangerously low BG in the middle of a fight and no time to try a manual override, but it’s still better than injections because nobody has time for that in paradox space. This also explains why Dirk barely changes at all in trickster mode, because he doesn’t get high on sugar the way the others do. Until Hal’s programming kicks in and gets his BG back to normal, he’s just like “yeah, I have a headache and annoying neck pains and that’s about it”. sorry I just really love diabetic Dirk ok

I have this really strong headcanon that Dirk pinches the bridge of his nose a lot. He especially does this whenever drunk!Roxy starts hitting on him.
