Date Everything characters with a player who has selective mutism Part 8
This series has been going on a while, huh? I'm considering retiring it after the next part and opening up requests for a bit. Thoughts?
Characters: Tony, Lady Memoria, Kopi, Timothy Timepiece, Miranda
Looks like somebody could use his workshop.
Tony's not one to step down from a challenge, especially not when it comes with such a pretty face.
Takes you under his wing: with his help you'll come out of your shell in no time.
Takes a while for him to understand that your silence is more than just a little bit of shyness, so he's kind of pushy about getting you to speak at first.
Once he realizes speaking doesn't come naturally to you he drops it.
Pretty proud (of himself and you) if you still want to take his workshop in romance.
A bit clumsy when adjusting his workshop to suit your situation, but he tries his best... mostly to impress you. Look how versatile he is! (also he still feel guilty about pressuring you earlier and wants to make it up to you)
Romance isn't about being loud, it's about subtlety, dropping hints and all that... right? No words necessary.
Tries to make you laugh. Any sound he can get out of you is a win in his books.
Gets all smug when you approach him/seek him out - the kind of feeling you get when a shy cat sits in your lap.
He will brag about it to the others. And also get pissy if he finds out you've spoken to any of them before him.
The first time you speak to him is in response to his banter: 'I know what you're talking about.'
And suddenly he's the speechless one (cliché I know).
He didn't prepare for this. Nor did he prepare for the feeling in his chest at the sound of your voice.
Memoria is used to your quietness at this point: she grew up by your side after all.
You carry a beautiful somberness with you that she finds most compelling.
She's never been one for meaningless chatter, thoughtful silence is more her speed, so your company is welcome.
She enjoys the look of quiet contemplation on your face whenever she presents you with a new (old) memory to either display of discard. That little smile when reminiscing on a happy memory is incredibly endearing.
She's very easy to be around, considering how understanding she is of your situation, and her closeness to you throughout your life.
Has a way of knowing exactly what you need to hear when you're feeling down.
Already knows what your voice sounds like, so talking to her comes more naturally than it does with others.
I believe her to be the protector type, so if you ever find yourself in an uncomfortable situation or confrontation she is always ready to step in and rescue you. She can be quite intimidating when others cause you distress.
If you need comfort afterwards she will hold you and whisper her own unique words of affection. They may lean on the more morbid and unsettling side, but they are always spoken with love.
She's such a gem about it.
Has a tendency to ramble, so knowing you actually listen to the things she says without finding her annoying or rushing her to get back to work means a lot.
She finds your quietness calming considering the usual hubbub of her average workday. You're visits give her a little, fondly appreciated, break from the noise.
If you communicate by writing things down she'll join you; a lot of your conversations are scribbled on napkins or flattened coffee filters.
She's held on to a couple of the more meaningful ones to look back on when things get her down.
Has your coffee order memorized so you don't have to ask for it. It's a small gesture, but it takes a weight off your shoulders.
Leaves silly little doodles on the coffee sleeves of your orders to try and make you giggle.
Sometimes, on slower shifts, she'll catch herself trying to imagine what your voice sounds like. Then feels bad because she doesn't want to speculate on something that might make you uncomfortable.
Will stand up for you, she's had plenty of experience interacting with difficult people at work, so defending her favorite customer is no challenge.
The first time you speak to her she melts, gushing about how sweet your voice is, and how it's just like she imagined, and how she's sorry for imagining it in case you think that's a violation, but you're just so lovely and she couldn't help it, and-
The two of you have never felt more flustered than in that moment.
As long as you stick to the schedule you'll be right as rain.
Honestly, he's a bit of an oddball; I can't see your quietness affecting him much, so long as you engage with his lessons on timeliness.
He is used to sitting in silence with only the sound of ticking as company, so to have a companion within that silence who isn't disruptive is more than welcome.
Believe it or not, as Ripley once said, Timothy is quite lonely so you simply being there listening to his musings on time is fondly appreciated.
He begins to excitedly anticipate your appointments each day: something about your company makes him feel even more serene than when it's just him and his pocket watches.
His favorite item on every days agenda, always circled in bright ink is: 'period of peace with homeowner'
He likes to plan ahead, so once he's made aware of your preferred form of communication, he'll be prepared with whatever you may need the next time you meet (pen, paper, etc)
His ears perk up at every little sound you make, as much as he respects your boundaries and understands you difficulty speaking out loud, he is anxiously awaiting the day you feel comfortable enough to speak freely with him.
The first time you do speak to him he goes straight as a rod, he did not prepare for this, there are only three and a half minutes until the end of your arranged meeting. He has so much to express and so little time to do it.
If you listen closely during this stunned silence you hear him purr, though it is overshadowed by frantic ticking.
As much as he adores you and wants to hear your voice more, he cannot disregard his schedule. So he tells you not to say anything else until you meet tomorrow at 9am sharp.
Once you are gone he hurriedly reworks his schedule for tomorrow, freeing up his entire morning for 'period of conversation with homeowner'. And then somehow forgets what other plans he had for that day. Perhaps he could work it out with you.
The idea of actually being able to have a proper conversation about time with you is exhilarating, he spends the rest of his day thinking of things he wants to hear you talk about as he completes the rest of his routine.
When the appointment finally arrives he cannot stop smiling, it's incredibly encouraging and eases any anxiety you may have felt about talking prior.
Ends up spending the whole day with you without realizing, and strangely enough, that doesn't seem to bother him at all.
Thinks you are the cutest thing.
Has a soft spot for shy people considering how extroverted she is.
As your life experience - aside from the obvious human/toaster thing - is far different from hers, she would love your creative insight.
Describe the way you feel to her if you can, a different perspective of the world could be the perfect inspiration.
If you use writing as a creative outlet for your feelings she would love to do a little sharing circle with you, and some of her bandmates if your comfortable with that (or just her, she wouldn't mind that either). Always finds something to praise in your words.
She likes to brainstorm out loud, so a good listener to hopefully remember the ideas she loses track of is a valuable resource.
Tries to help you branch out socially by introducing you to her band, sticking to your side the entire time to make sure you're comfortable, and making sure you feel involved.
So unbelievably supportive, whether you feel up to speaking or not she will never make you feel the pressure either way. And if anyone else does, they will not be leaving with their feelings in tact. She does not shy away from confrontation.
Nobody is allowed to make you uncomfortable about the way you are. To her, you are strong and resilient and the fact that you are able to stand up and face each day despite your struggles deserves respect. It is something that inspires her greatly.
She will defend you until her coils rust.
Your number one advocate. If you ever need someone to speak on your behalf or aid you in any way during a social situation, she's there for you. It's something she prides herself on.
Thanks you for reading. A shorter one this time, but I wanted to get something out to all of you lovely people. As I said before I feel this series is running a bit dry, so I might do one more part with the ideas I have and then I'm considering opening up requests for a bit. I really need to get back into writing, I've been slacking lol
Characters I'll be writing in the next part: Reggie, Captain Jacques Pierrot, Telly - if there are any characters you want to see in this series that haven't been written yet please comment them on this post, next part's the last one!
