Hacked: A DirkxRoxy fic
Oh my god why do I try. Oh well, have this fic that I may or may not continue.
GETTIN ALL SPY AU UP IN HERE
Roxy Lalonde, infamous for her hacking skills and deadly looks, is part of a secret organization known as SBURB. Partnered with the devilishly handsome Jake English, it seems her life is perfect.
That is until she's hacked by a mysterious man known as Di-stri.
__
Roxy felt her lips tug upwards as the screen flashed green.
"File retrieval was a success." Flickered across the top of the open program before disappearing. Seconds later a folder appeared on her dashboard, its title a long string of seemingly pointless numbers.
Tempted as she was to see what Jake was after, the blond ignored the urge to click, opting to refill her shot glass instead.
Humming an old song she had heard in a bar once, Roxy pushed herself away from the desk, twirling idly in her office chair. No doubt the moment she had fallen for Jake had been the one in which he gifted her with this wonderful piece of furniture.
Speak of the devil, a knock on the door resounded throughout the darkened room, and Roxy called them in.
Jake English was no doubt an attractive man. Dressed in a collared green shirt and brown slacks, the man grinned at his partner, running his fingers through his dark hair.
"How are things going, Madame Lalonde?" He flicked the lights on, chuckling as the blond cringed at the brightness.
Scooting back in her chair, Roxy offered him a smirk as she lazily waved towards the computer screen.
"See for yourself, Mr. English." She slurred, spinning away.
Her eyes watched him as he crossed the room to examine her work. Adjusting his glasses, a small smile turned up on his lips as he caught sight of the new file.
"Hat's off to you once again, my lovely comrade." He dipped into a low bow, and Roxy giggled despite the cheesiness of his words and gesture. "Oh pshaw, that was easy as fuck." She hiccupped, drifting towards the desk to retrieve her empty shot glass.
Jake frowned at her as she poured herself yet another glass. Sighing, he carefully took the drink from the tipsy woman and downed it himself, choking slightly at the bitter taste.
"Cheese and fucking crackers, Roxy! What in the blazes have you been drinking?"
Roxy attempted to pout over her stolen drink, but failed as a bubble of laughter erupted from her lips at Jake's disgusted reaction.
"Oh my gaaawd, you should see your faaace." She drawled, laughter wracking her thin body. Jake pressed him lips together to keep himself from smiling.
"My apologies for not being a reckless bar-goer such as yourself, Ro-La." He ruffled her messy blond locks before grabbing the bottle of vodka on his way out the door. His fingers hovered over the lightswitch, looking at the drowsy mess of a girl over his shoulder.
"Roxy...it might be wise to refrain from drinking anymore of this..." He stared at the bottle in his hand for a moment, trying to find the right word. "Anymore of this concoction." Immediately sobered by the grim tone of the man's words, Roxy blinked, opened her mouth to respond, but closed it and blinked again. Jake gave her a disappointed look before turning the lights off and shutting the door behind him. __ Now alone in the dark, the blond woman stared at the place her partner had stood just seconds before. Chewing on her lip, she spun around to look at the computer screen.
There were in fact three computers on the desk, positioned in a rough "c" shape. One held information, one was used solely for hacking, and one was for personal use. The former sported a picture from last year's Christmas Party as the wallpaper.
Latula was laughing as Mituna kissed her on the cheek, Gamzee was leering at the camera, dressed in red footie pajamas, and Equius was fidgeting with his wrinkled cravat as Nepeta clung to his back, reindeer horns slipping off her head. Jake's face was flushed from drinking, one arm looped around Roxy's waist, the other pointing at the camera. Roxy eyed herself in the picture. They had all been drunk off their asses that night, it was obvious to anyone who saw the picture. Messy hair, lopsided grins and loose clothing marked countless rounds of beer pong and other various drinking games. Smiling softly at the memory, Roxy ran her fingers down the screen before remembering Jake's expression just minutes before. Her smile melted into a scowl; stupid Jake, killing her god damn buzz! An icon on the middle computer caught her eye, and Roxy felt her lips turning up once more, this time in a roguish grin. What was in that file that Jake wanted? She had never given any of her targets much thought, she was simply the delivery girl. But the sudden wave of irritation towards Jake sparked a newfound interest.
Before she could even think of the consequences, the file was open, its contents filling the screen.
The files were all labeled with various combinations of letters and numbers. Roxy hated boring titles like that, but she nevertheless opened the first link.
The screen flashed, the computer whirred a little louder then usual, and then...
Silence. Roxy frowned, repeating her actions. Once again, nothing. "Wow, that's literally the shittiest secret file ever." She muttered, closing the file and spinning away from her desk. Standing up, the vodka made her wobble for a moment, but she brushed the feeling off and made for the door.
She had barely taken a step when she heard it.
Although it may have been indistinguishable to the average ear, Roxy Lalonde prided herself in having the best damn ears of any broad she knew. So when she heard the computer let out a soft click, she knew something had changed. Turning slowly on heel, the girl narrowed her eyes at the three machines. "You stay the fuck asleep." She mumbled, scanning the computers for any change. She almost pissed herself when the screens flashed black. "Holy shit!" She gasped, stumbling backwards. All three of her beloved computers had gone dark aside from a single symbol in the center of the screens. An orange hat. "What the flying fuck..." Roxy breathed, inching closer to the issue. A fresh arrow of fear struck her in the heart as orange text began to scroll above the hat.
"I'm an insomniac."
What the hell did that even mean? As if reading her mind, new words appeared below the sentence. "You told me to stay the fuck asleep, right?"
Despite herself, Roxy felt a small smile twinge at her lips. So the little shit was a joker, huh? Hesitantly, Roxy tapped a ley and felt her eyes widen when a pink letter appeared on the screen, under the orange text. Without a second thought, the hacker planted her bottom in the seat and started typing. "Slow clap for yor wit. nows who the fuck is this?" After a moment, a reply was sent.
"Di-Sri."
Whispering the name to herself, Roxy answered.
"Oooh is that italian ;) lol anyways get the fuck off my computer kay" Almost a whole minute passed before a response was given. "French actually. And why would I leave, you just invited me. It would be rude to leave now."
Invite? Oh shit. The link she opened.
"u wouldnt happem to be that link i opened, would you?" Her fingers fly across the keys, dread building in her chest as she waits for an answer. "Oui Oui. Unfortunately, I'll have to end this little chat early, I have some business to attend to.
Fear floods her entire body as Roxy frantically types back.
"oh shit oh shit ohshitohsit who do you work for." It takes so long for Di-Stri to answer, the woman begins to think he's left. But she's strangely relieved when the now-familiar orange text scrolls below her own. "Don't worry Ro-La, we'll talk about important stuff eventually. But for now, adieu."
And with that the screens flicker back to her desktop, leaving Roxy to wonder if she imagined the whole thing. ___ AUGH DO I CONTINUE THIS SHIT OR WHAT I have plans for more, but I'm not sure. REVIEW, REBLOG, LIKE, IDK, just something to know you liked it.
