A Royal Ball - Homestuck Royalty AU

Two young brothers watched over the ball, nobles mingling, the small orchestra playing a delightful song and kings and queens watching over their beloved subjects. The younger of the two leans in close to his brother, speaking barely above a whisper.

"I've heard rumors that the Maryam sisters are from a lineage of vampires, or at the very least the youngest is one."

Dirk doesn't look at his brother, just continues watching the scene before them as he answers. "You weren't aware?"

"What?"

Dirk nods towards the two trolls, both dressed in elegant jade dresses with accents of ruby red and delicate gold jewelry. "Do you not see how gracefully they move? How pale they are amongst their peers? Or how their canines protrude?"

Dave feels his embarrassment burn through him. "I- well, I guess I didn't. Who are we to judge by looks, anyways?"

The older just hums in response, his attention now on the youngest Maryam – no older than him – meets his amber eyes and smiles shyly.

He sat on the rooftops watching her limp empty body as it was raised to the titan’s mouth. His swords were gone, his strength drained, he couldn’t fight for her this time, game over. His eyes met her unseeing ones for one last time before a sickening crunch echoed through the air and he was bathed in jade blood.
