20. 19. 18. For the romantic questions thing for dirkstarion
18. What was the lowest point for them as a couple?
Honestly probably hitting The City. There's a fairly messy stretch Where no one is having a good time, and they are very tetchy with each other. Dirk kind of yells at him about not liking the sewer smell.
Karlach has too do a lot of interference. Things settle down a little once they get on Keene's good side and deal with Cazador.
Also, they break up. It's not a grand traumatic event or anything. Just kind of a low build to realizing they want different things out of a person.
19. What's something they can't stand about each other?
There's nothing Dirk can't stand about Astarion. She'd break up with him if there was. But, if you mean, what does Dirk find very annoying. Astarion can be kind of a classist racist prick and it drives her fucking nuts. He gets away with zero microagressions, no mean jokes about gnomes or Kobolds or The Gur. I don't know if he ever genuinely gets less...bad about this. But he learns not to do it in front of Dirk.
As for what Astarion can't stand about Dirk.
It eventually becomes fucking insufferable that Dirk is terrible at compliments and enthusiasm and rarely actively wants to be affectionate. He knows she loves him. But frankly, it would be nice to have a partner who says nice things and is actively enthusiastic when he wants to fuck.
The most Dirk can conssitantly manage is "sure, I'm not doing anything to night."
20. What's something they'd change about their partner?
Wash her. Astarion would wash her. I think he'd also like it if Dirk was better at lying. You'd think it would be the fact that she doesn't experience romantic or sexual attraction. But he can get that else where. He can date someone else. Dirk consistently flubbing a DC eight deception check will get them killed one day. The constant mold just means it's hard to take her anywhere.
Dirk would like it he could break and enter without invitations and go through running water. She'd also like him to be able to go in the sun you know, for his sake, but the first two cause her more personal annoyance.
Personality wise. It would be cool if he stopped reminding her he used to be a magistrate. I've covered her problems with the classisim and the racism.
