I think Lae’zel is fine not knowing the intricacies of being a broke pickpocket in Baldur’s Gate. There definitely is some time in my run for Lae’zel to explore the city, and see the appeal of Faerun, but I think it’s like, Shadowheart Karlach and Wyll giving her the tour. Not Dirk.
Also Dirk is, by and large, not super interested in sharing facts about her life or culture. It just never comes up.
The gang travels together for four months and I don’t think anyone even knows Dirk is a nickname.
What does he think of the way your OC dances?
Dirk doesn’t dance. She doesn’t even try to. She just sort of spends parties hovering near snack tables.
Wyll has absolutely encouraged her, once everyone was getting tipsy at the Tiefling Party and the epilogue. But Dirk is really just a buzzkill.
Would he confide in your OC about how he feels after Mizora transformed him?
Probably not. Dirk doesn’t really like Wyll, and doesn’t bother to hide the fact. She basically never stopped being a bit peeved about his dad being in charge of The Flaming Fist.
And they’d found that out recently when the Mizora thing happened. So he’ll be confiding in someone else.

Oh, Gods, no on both counts, It could have happened. Despite what certain vampires say in act one, they did run in similar circles. Dirk spotted him in passing once or twice schmoozing up some drunk. He probably noticed her skulking in corners. And they both privately decided that the other wouldn’t be worth their trouble.
Astarion is a, always on alert, and b, doesn’t look like he has much money. Yeah, sure his clothes are fancy, but when you look up close they’re really old. So Dirk isn’t lifting his wallet, and Dirk is…well frankly disgusting. True, it would have been very very funny to bring Cazador a human mushroom and give him indigestion, but it’s not worth the risk.
Or sleeping with Dirk, can you imagine stooping to that level? Astarion certainly couldn’t. So. They never interacted.
Dirk would have been a bad pick anyways. She’d never go to a second location with a strange man. That’s how you get murdered, or mugged, or abducted into the feywild. Nothing good ever comes from handsome strangers pretending they like you.
What does he think of their magical skills or, at least, their potential?
Fascinating and kind of weird. Druidic magic isn’t Gale’s wheelhouse, but the way Dirk comes at it is strange even from what he knows. Since Dirk’s casting is more like a sorcerer, innate, and something she doesn’t have a great grasp on.
She’s impressive for someone who has no training or clear idea what they’re doing and why it works. And Gale does appreciate that she tries to practice things and figure out how her own spells work. Because Dirk does make attempts. She takes notes. And she picks up raising the dead with fungus after spending like, four days in the myconid colony.
He is also one of the only ones who gets to find out about the whole Hexblood Deal, and he would love to really get into how much of Dirk's magic is natural and how much comes from being cursed by a witch. They don't really get the chance over the course of the campaign. But maybe when she visits him in Waterdeep they can dig into it.
Would she share a cigar with you OC? Would they accept it?
Karlach and Dirk are absolutely at cigar sharing. Dirk doesn’t smoke but I think if Karlach offered her one she’d accept. I don't think she'd enjoy it, but she'd try.
Is he happy with the way they interact with children?
Ha, ha. No. Dirk is mean to kids. Unintentionally. She’s mean to everyone when she’s stressed and she doesn’t view children as all that different then any other guy. She’s also a grand fan of not sugar coating anything and ripping the bandage off aggressively. If these tiefling kids can’t survive Dirk giving a well intentioned and overly detailed explanation of how to win a knife fight and how you only need to be faster then the other guy so feel free to trip someone weaker then you. Then how in The Nine Hells are they surviving Baldur’s Gate.
She is trying really hard not to be nice, but to useful. And she knows everyone else is going to try and dance around how bad things are, because they’re kids.
Halsin gets what she’s going for, so it’s not like he thinks she’s a monster. But he does frequently advise a softer touch. Which usually gets him snapped at. And in game Dirk did get a big ol’ Halsin Dissaproves for how she talked to Oliver.
What does she think about their sense of humour?
Jaehira appreciates that Dirk appreciates Jaehira’s sense of humor. But Dirk barely has a sense of humor herself. At least she never intentionally makes jokes. And on the rare times she does they fall flat. I think Jaehira does enjoy her very straight forward attitude though and finds a lot of what she says unintentionally funny.
Would he share Boo’s secrets with them?
Dirk actively avoids Minsc as much as possible. He’s Jaehira’s friend, so we’re not letting him be brainwashed and evil. But he’s also extremely annoying. He might try to share Boo’s secrets. But Dirk will be casting pass without trace and hiding behind a camp chest till he goes away.
She likes Boo though. The Hamster can stay.
Would he tell Minsc nice things about them?
Yeah. Rule of thumb Dirk and rodents get on, and I’ve decided that Boo and Rat are fast friends. So Boo thinks highly of Dirk.
Does she think your OC could become a powerful ally?
Dirk and Minthara exchanged zero words in my last run. And in my first Dirk run Minthara called her a fairy (Derogatory.) Maybe if they had gotten to know each other she would have, but Minthara was too busy being mauled by a bear to think about it.
