Episode 36 of Why is My Horse Always Filthy?!?
Once upon a time, I thought I'd just give Tony a year off, and we'd get back to it. That was 3 years ago now. What I've learned is a lot of patience, and an understanding that things take the time they take, and you can't force a timeline without causing damage you're trying to fix. It will happen, but I don't get to say when. In the meantime, I am learning all kinds of new skills - including farriery! (aka hoof trimming) Here are some before and after pics, which may not look like much, but are a first step.
Lesson yesterday.
This was the kind of day I normally would have dreaded - crazy wind and rain, and a horse that did not want to be inside. But we used the opportunity and worked through it and by the end of the lesson we had walked and trotted circles on a loose rein. Felt like a real milestone!
Horse faces change shape, if you let them. Give their bones space to expand.
Three years ago, I didn't trust my horse enough to dare a #betweentheears shot. Now we can stand around and enjoy the scenery.
