I had writer's block for this but now the wall is SMASHED!!! 🥳
Or was Buck overthinking this whole thing? After all, Eddie had only kissed his cheek. It wasn't like he'd kissed him on the mouth.
Buck felt his face burn at this last thought. Oh, how he wanted Eddie to kiss him on the mouth…
-
"You kissed him!?" Linda exclaimed, eyes wide with excitement. Josh thunked his glass down on the table in surprise, his mouth falling open.
"Not on the lips!" Eddie said quickly as he dropped his hands back down and looked up. "Just on the cheek. But…" He swallowed nervously. "Yeah."
"What are you still doing here?" Josh burst out.
"… Excuse me?"
Shaking his head, Josh shared a disbelieving glance with Linda before saying, "Go kiss him for real!"
"But…" Eddie stared between them, his heart pounding in his chest. "I'm here with you guys. We're hanging out. I can't just ditch you."
"Eddie!" Linda chided. "We can hang out later! Ditch us and go get your man!"
👀👀👀👀 - chris watches
But then weeks passed. Chris watched the two of them continue to smile and laugh and hang out together, their touches getting progressively more intimate every day. He waited, constantly, for his dad to tell him that he and Buck were dating and things might start to look a bit different from now on.
He waited, eager to be given the chance to tell his dad that he thought this was a really good idea and he was actually thrilled for them both. He could picture his dad's face lighting up with joy, the special smile he reserved for Buck bursting free, uncontainable.
Giving a quiet cough, Buck began, "Uh… hey. I just wanted to say sorry. Uh, about before?"
Eddie remained stubbornly still.
"I didn't mean to upset you," Buck went on, his nerves taking control of his mouth and making it run. "I just wasn't thinking. At all. I heard something about kissing your best friend and just immediately went for it because I wanted to. Like, the idea of having to be paid money to kiss you? Laughable. I truly meant what I said, that I'd kiss you for free. I mean, obviously, since I did do that. But what I'm trying to say is it just didn't even occur to me that you might not want to, which is incredibly rude and selfish and inconsiderate of me. I absolutely should have asked before kissing you, and I just really hope–"
🙊🙊🙊🙊 - don't say his name
Buck and Eddie glanced at each other, their eyes darting away again just as quickly. Eddie cleared his throat and reached for the avocado to start dicing it, leaving Buck to answer Chimney's accusations.
"No," Buck enunciated carefully, as if it was a much more complicated word which could be easily misheard and not one with only one syllable. "Eddie and I are not secretly dating."
Chimney narrowed his eyes. For a moment he thought he saw one of Eddie's hands shake nervously, but then he was slicing the avocado expertly so Chimney assumed he'd imagined it.
Still.
"Hen, back me up here?" he said, turning to his partner in crime.
"You two have seemed extra close lately," Hen said, leaning forward on her arms. "You were practically cuddling on the couch earlier from the look of it."
"We weren't cuddling!" Eddie protested, looking up from his avocado. "That couch is tiny!"
Hey!! LOVED the last snippet and I'm dying to know about this one - 13. 😭
Thank you!
Happy writing ❤️
P.S.: I really like the title you decided to go with for this one! Can't wait to read the whole thing 😀
I did not forget you my love <3 I've just been so distracted with fluffy fics instead haha. But here you go, I've written some more for you... 😈
😭 - Miscommunication
Swinging his legs over the side of the bed abruptly, Eddie sat up and glared daggers into the wall where a fresh hole had appeared after Buck's violent exit. The door handle had hit so hard that it had smashed the drywall, leaving behind a small dark hole as a constant reminder of what had just happened and how angry Buck had been.
Getting up and going over to it, Eddie ran his fingers across the damage, wondering whether it was even worth trying to fix. It would be hidden whenever the door was open, so the only person who'd ever have to see it was himself – and wasn't that the way with all of his damage?
Before he knew what he was doing, Eddie found himself digging his fingers into the hole and ripping it apart, widening it into an ugly gash representative of his heart. He brought his other hand up as well, attacking with a frenzy, and alternated between tearing and punching as he let out a guttural yell of anguish.
thank you so much! 🥰
(& sorry for the delay!)
I didn't end up writing any more for eddie's online friend... it simply did not spark joy 😔
BUT I'm now REALLY CLOSE to finishing 'who's got a crush' and 'touches'!!!!!!! 🥳🥳
and once again I cannot be constrained by word limits
🤖 - who's got a crush
"Did Chris put you up to this?" Eddie asked cautiously, glancing at his son.
"In a way," Buck admitted. "But not… I mean… I want this. Chris just encouraged me to tell the truth, that's all."
The truth. That Buck liked him and wanted to go on a date with him.
"Wow," Eddie breathed.
"Good wow?" Buck asked.
And suddenly Eddie realised just how nervous he looked, like he really had no idea what Eddie was going to say in reply. Which was ridiculous, because of course Eddie liked him as well and wanted to go on a date with him! Eddie was terrible at hiding his feelings!
He'd honestly assumed that Buck already knew.
"Yes," Eddie said, feeling his lips curving into a smile. "Buck, I would love to go on a date with you."
"I told you!" Chris crooned smugly. "I told you he liked you too!"
👈 - touches
This is a really short ficlet I'm working on that's an odd writing style.
The next escalation comes one evening as they're curled up on Eddie's couch together. They're sitting in silence, just the two of them because Christopher's already in bed, and Buck's gently running his fingers through Eddie's hair when Eddie tips his head back and their eyes meet.
They have no need for words. They understand each other better than they understand themselves.
🤪 - clumsy
Thankfully Work Mode took over his brain once they arrived at the scene, carrying him through and enabling him to ignore all the times that Eddie looked particularly stunning: like when he stepped out of the truck, beautiful brown eyes blinking against the sunlight; or when he got that studious look on his face as he set to work; or when he pried loose a car door to save someone without breaking a sweat; and then once they were all done and he took his helmet off and ran a slow hand through his sweaty hair.
Buck ignored them, but he wasn't blind.
+ bonus scene from my notes
Eddie asks Buck a question and Buck replies with: "yeah you look amazing"
They stare at each other while Buck internally screams and swears at himself for being such an idiot! He quickly says, "Sorry! I mean, uh, yes I'm done with [appliance]."
Eddie smiles and says, "Thanks, Buck!" and pats him on the shoulder before walking off.
kudos to you for actually choosing an emoji for each wip xD
13. 😭😭 34. 💦💦 21. 💋💋
thank you haha, I'm actually really proud of the emojis I chose! 🥰
also I'm sorry but I have got absolutely no motivation for the last two atm so I wrote extra on the first one instead, hope that's okay!
😭😭 - fwb misunderstanding
"Buck." Eddie propped himself up on an elbow so he could look at Buck more squarely. "What on earth about this–" he gestured at himself, "–made you think I'd be ready for more?"
Buck felt his confidence begin to crack and forced himself to put some more distance between the two of them. Eddie was looking at him with confusion in his eyes, like he couldn't understand why Buck would ever think he'd want to be in a relationship with him.
He supposed it was his fault. It was always his fault for assuming that people who slept with him wanted anything more than his body.
He'd just really thought that Eddie was different.
"Sorry," he muttered, looking away.
"It's okay," Eddie said with a sigh and another quiet chuckle as he lay back down beside him. "Just… please. No more."
Buck squeezed his eyes shut and tried not to let the words cut him, but he was already bleeding. If he had known Eddie only wanted sex, no strings attached, he never would have agreed in the first place. He didn't do that anymore – didn't Eddie know that?
He felt used, reduced to nothing more than a body, and the fact that it was Eddie who had done this to him made it all a thousand times worse. Eddie was his best friend, someone he trusted implicitly and wanted desperately to make a life with.
But Eddie didn't want him.
Sitting up, Buck swung his legs over the side of the bed and leaned down to collect his discarded clothes from the floor. Then he stood, pulling them on and telling himself not to cry until he was in his car. He knew from experience that the worst thing he could do right now was cry.
"Buck?" Eddie asked from the bed. Buck ignored him, doing up his belt. "Where are you going?"
"Home," Buck said curtly, tugging his shirt straight and then scooping up his jacket.
"What… right now?"
Eyes stinging, Buck walked to the door and grabbed the handle.
"Buck!" Eddie snapped, and he faltered.
Closing his eyes, his shoulders sagged in defeat. He didn't want to have this conversation. Please, don't make me have this conversation.
"Will you please tell me what's going on?" Eddie asked gently.
Unable to resist, Buck slowly turned around. His teeth were clenched as he fought against the tears which wanted to spill, and he could tell his face was red from all the emotions swirling through him. He was angry at himself for getting so worked up when Eddie was still just lying there with nothing but a curious frown on his face.
Rubbing harshly at his jaw, he said, "I can't do this."
"What?" Eddie asked, his frown deepening. "Why not?"
The complete lack of understanding on Eddie's face made him want to scream. Hands clenching into fists, he managed to say, "Because you don't want more."
Remarkably, Eddie still didn't appear to understand.
"So you're just gonna leave?" Eddie asked.
"Why exactly would I stay?"

Make Me Write ✨
check out more snippets I've written for the 'make me write' game
"You are jealous," Eddie said softly, eyes widening.
Buck's heart thudded fearfully in his chest.
"For fuck's sake," Eddie said, walking closer. "I was beginning to think you didn't feel it."
Buck was about to ask 'feel what' when Eddie had reached him, taken his face in his hands, and kissed him.
snippet of a buddie wip I'm working on. should I struggle my way through to finishing it?
oh oh oh!!! some really good ones here if I do say so myself! 🥰
cheek kiss
"Make sure Buck doesn't stay up too late," he added, grinning up at the man in question who rolled his eyes in response.
"Go or you're gonna be late," Chris said without looking up.
"Okay, okay." Eddie lifted his hands in surrender and headed to the door which Buck was holding open for him.
"Have fun," Buck said with a grin.
"I will. Thanks again, Buck. See you later." Leaning in, Eddie cupped one side of Buck's face with a hand and pressed a kiss to the other side before ducking out the door and getting in the elevator.
The doors were shut and he was on his way down to the ground floor when he realised what he'd done.
don't say his name
this one is a little bit dumb jskfhes but the idea is that buck and eddie get dared/bet that they can't go a whole day/week (I haven't decided yet) without saying each other's name
Looking up, Chimney opened his mouth to remind him about the week-long dare they had to adhere to, but was interrupted as Eddie said, "Hey, Babe."
"So good to see you, Love," Buck said, giving Eddie's shoulder a squeeze as he passed him on his way to the kitchenette for a cup of coffee.
Chimney and Bobby stared at them in surprise.
"What?" Buck asked as he put the coffee pot back down.
Chimney shook his head and said nothing, looking back down at the magazine he had in front of him.
"Wasn't the dare just that you couldn't use each other's names?" Bobby asked.
"Yeah, and?" Buck asked as he leaned his arms on the counter. "We didn't."
"No, but..." Bobby looked between the two of them before letting out a quiet sigh. "Never mind. Carry on."
fwb no kissing rule
Buck stared up at him. Eddie didn't look horrified or as though he'd just realised how Buck felt and was about to say that they should put some distance between them from now on. So maybe Buck had just been paranoid thinking that his kiss would reveal how in love he was with Eddie.
Giving it a try, he reached up and pulled Eddie back to him. Their lips met again and this time they kissed with a gentle passion that took Buck's breath away.
Eddie pulled back again a moment later, eyebrows drawn together in a frown. "Are you sure? You said… You said no kissing."
"I know," Buck said, fingers playing with the ends of Eddie's hair at the nape of his neck. "I've changed my mind."
hits different - jealous buck
"I have a date this Friday," Eddie said with a shy smile. Hen and Chim immediately starting crowing excitedly, but Buck felt his blood freeze in his veins.
"You what?"
Eddie looked over at him, his smile faltering. "Uh, yeah. Her name's Mabel."
Buck stared at him, trying to swallow down the sour taste stuck in his throat. He needed to say something supportive, smile, tell Eddie that it was fine. He needed to be happy for his best friend, but he couldn't bring himself to.
"Buck?" Hen asked with a frown, leaning over the bench towards him. "You okay?"
"Don't go," Buck burst out.
kiss your best friend passionately
"Would you passionately kiss your best friend for one hundred dollars?" Chimney read from his phone.
"Are you kidding?" Buck exclaimed, slapping a hand down on the table. "I'd do it for free!"
Eddie looked up as Buck swivelled towards him on his chair. Then, before Eddie had time to react, Buck had grabbed hold of his shirt and pulled him into a kiss.
to the core
I am honestly so excited for this one but I think it's gonna take me a while to finish because I really wanna get it PERFECT you know?
Switching the TV off, Buck stared in stunned silence. He remembered seeing Eddie talking to the reporter during that call, but hadn't thought much of it. Eddie rarely spoke to the press and when he did his words were usually clipped and awkward.
But this…
What Buck and I have goes beyond friendship and I love him to the core.
It wasn't anything that Buck didn't already know, and yet the way it had been phrased made it impossible for him to shrug off. No one had ever told Buck they loved him to the core before. To the core meant all of him, the good and the bad. The things he wanted people to see and the things he didn't want anyone to see.
And Buck knew that; he'd always known that Eddie saw him and loved him for exactly who he was. But hearing it spelled out like that?
"Fine. I'll get out of your hair. Sorry for being too much for you."
"Buck, you…"
He hesitated, holding his breath as he waited for Eddie to finish his sentence. He was expecting an apology, for Eddie to say something like, You're not too much for me. You never are! Come back and we'll sort this out – together.
But the only words that came out were, "You don't have to leave."
