I never heard of Disc-O-Mat until I googled the name for the purpose of this stupid post!  Could this LP, sitting in my local Fairfax, Virginia, record store, originally be from the Disc-O-Mat at 7th Avenue and 36th St. in Manhattan?  Or maybe the one at Lexington and 57th? Now, if any of you jerks pay any attention to this crappy blog, I'm from Cleveland, and we didn't have a store with a name as dumb as Disc-O-Mat!  Well, we did have a Coconuts, so I should probably shut up, shouldn't I?

Jethro Tull, "Baker Street Muse"

Ian and the boys' four-song suite from side two of Minstrel in the Gallery.  This is probably my favorite number from my favorite album of theirs.  Don't get me wrong, Aqualung and Stand Up and others in their oeuvre are classics, but this album, which, if fickle memory serves, I bought on the same day as Wish You Were Here from the Disc-o-Mat on 7th Avenue and 36th--they were released within a week of each other; jesus, giants walked the earth then--for $3.69 each, plus tax, $3.99, is special.  And this number, Ian Anderson's love of words and melodies at the fore, is stellar.  Enjoy.
