The month is almost over but here’s our slice of #noirvember - DISCARD, a short film done in the noir style as much as can be. (including dissolves, the minimalist score, etc.)
Featuring fantastic performances from Bob Olin and Mick LaFlamme, a script akin to Perry Mason-goes-bad, and one of our darkest endings for a Dark and Moody production, it’s still holding up pretty good!
So, I’m exporting a version of our short film DISCARD that’s all filtered with fake film grain/scratches/dust for a #noirvember re-release next month. \o/

Okay, we missed Noirvember. Sorry about that. BUT, because of the time we took, it gave us an original score and let me work on the audio a little more.
This film noir-flavored look into the past of Downcast follows the card dealer character played by Bob Olin. Extremely moody lighting, some great scene-chewing performances (especially the two leads), and easily the absolutely darkest ending we've ever done for our short film projects.

DISCARD - the film noir - comes out this month!
POISON - the grungy action thriller - comes out 2/14/2014!
DOWNCAST - the final feature film - will be finished in March, shown in Spring, and released in Summer!
Trying to finish up Discard for tomorrow morning.

I'm about 1/4 of the way through the dialogue edit and final tweaks (there's still a few trouble-spots in the pacing I need to fix). When that's done, it's down to music implementation, the few color correction tweaks I have to do (not many, mostly in the 3rd act), and then voila. Done.
We'll see if I can pull this off quickly. I gotta get it reviewed hopefully by Ostin tonight, to get the audio A-okay.
But yeah. It'd be nice to get it off my chest and be able to jump into Poison 100%. Cuz hawwh cha-cha. :D
New airsoft repaired. Haven't tested it at home yet, will be doing so a bit later. Script for Poison sent out to necessary individuals. Fingers crossed we can start making concrete plans after Turkey Day.

I swear, editing this final scene is one of the longest series of sessions I've done for a dialogue sequence. Partly's it the number of choices, partly it's just, having to keep reviewing and thinking and zoning into it. Crazy.
Fingers crossed I can get the edit out before Noirvember ends!
