DICWOMAN PHILLY #5: DISCHETTO
When did you start DJing?
Started DJing mostly French electro and lots of hip hop in 2008 when I was in high school using my brother's ancient M-Audio Torq Xponent controller.
Opening up for Christian Martin of Dirtybird Records at Trilogy nightclub in 2013.
Favorite party ever played:
Recently at Rumor nightclub for the new All Natural party. Got to play lots of weird bass-y Detroit techno to a very receptive crowd.
Louisahhhh!! hands down. Her style is dark and heavy and continuously builds eery tension, which is what I aim for.
Best record you’ve ever bought:
The best vinyl record I've ever purchased was Ecstasy Club's "Jesus Loves the Acid". It's from 1986 and still slams hard as hell.
How would you define the term DISCWOMAN?
A Discwoman is a powerful, musical force of female nature. A woman that owns her personal style and doesn't let people stop dancing.
When people ask me to play something completely out of my musical realm of knowledge. I've been asked to play Justin Beiber on multiple occasions. In what world would that ever happen.
Do you dance when you DJ?
I have before, and have noticed both pros and cons. Pros are that I am less inhibited when it comes to song selection but my focus and technical skills take a slight hit.
What’s best compliment you’ve ever gotten?
A girl once called me the female Gesaffelstein. I nearly cried.
Place you’d like to play:
If we're aiming high, Berghain in Berlin. Such a legendary club with an unbelievable vibe and personality.
Something you want everyone to know about you:
I'm a classically trained harpist for over 15 years. Currently working on finding a way to incorporate it into my DJ sets and future productions,
