In totally unhelpful nature, I would like to point out that the NT4 angsty sex scene after Asami tells Aki off is super hot.

Are you kidding? This is incredibly helpful! It is super hot. And it’s just another example of how sensei’s sex scenes are not just there for the sex. This is an extension of that underlying discontent of Asami’s, symbolized in the opening of the door. Even if HE can’t admit openly that he wants Aki (hence “You don’t have that kind of value,”) he needs Aki to make an admission and he teases it out of him. 

That is super hot. And once he has wrung that admission out of Aki, then it’s fun times, where Aki goes from “No no, I don’t wanna” to cowgirl to not even being able to recognize his own ringtone. (Thanks to tumblr, you’ll just have to refer to your own copy of this volume for images of these moments! Tumblr is flag-happy today.)

Asexual

I’m an asexual and I happen to be in a very loving community. Most people I know are super chill about it lots of people are curious and ask me about it and that’s great. So it makes me incredibly angry when people in the online community try to discredit us.

The one argument I see is why can’t you just say you don’t experience attraction and move on, why do you need a group and a flag and a name.

Well what about homosexuals, if that’s how you think why can’t they just say they don’t feel sexually attracted to people of the opposite gender and move on, why do they need a flag and a name.

See how ridiculous that sounds, I hope so.

That little fond smile was how we all knew Asami was absolutely gone for his little disaster uke Aki. "don't have that kind of value" indeed.

Yes! I always feel like that “don’t have that kind of value” line was Asami’s last desperate attempt to convince himself that it was true, that he wasn’t dead gone on this boy. But the minute it was out of his mouth, he knew it was false and he had to make Aki admit he wanted him in one way or another. 

The sad thing is that Aki didn’t know it, didn’t see any of it, and it took so long for him to be able to freely admit his own feelings. (But of course, that’s what has made reading this manga so interesting.)

I don’t think Aki would want to be secluded on an island. Part of his appeal is that he’s a wild thing… Of course he had fun on his sex holiday slash honeymoon… But he loves a concrete jungle. Also: height difference �� always appreciate it.

True. And Aki isn’t interested in being a kept man. He works because he WANTS to work. He would languish on the beach. I still think Asami could manage a relatively normal life in Tokyo. He might have to continue to swat a few pesky flies from time to time, but I think--again, within the context of the not-quite-realistic world sensei has created--it could be made believable.

People like that still exist? I’m not surprised entirely but it’s kind of depressing still… Smh. You don’t have to love the main couple in a series like this (nikandros is my fav character in captive prince and I’m pretty lukewarm on laurent) but like… Don’t pretend like the main couple aren’t purposefully meant for each other ��

Yeah. Everyone’s entitled to their fantasies and fan fiction is great for assuaging those feelings. But to gnash your teeth over canon that is so obviously carved in stone is futile.

Would you ever consider reading/watching MDZS? My heart is overfilled with love for ancient chinese gay demon hunters... admittedly it's more of a slow burn with lots of UST and angst... but oh how that is entirely everything i hope for...

I actually started watching the first episode because I’m seeing so much beautiful fan art, but the dialogue is so fast paced, the subs disappear off the screen before I can read half of them, so I have to keep pausing and rewinding and it’s getting frustrating!

I was up for another translation because of some of that old lady language in the June version but also because there are some parts that are still a little vague. But now I’m thinking vague is better.
