K, that's enough but this design is my new fav...everything from industrial design, to student designs, strange designs, simple designs. This helmet was designed by a shop in South Carolina called Discommon. As a huge Mando fan, I love the mashup of old timey Gma-inspired porcelain. What's even funnier is the writeup on the site, that if you do put it on your head, have a hammer nearby to get it off! Design, these days, inspires me much more than copy...maybe I should make the switch? NAHHHHH.

Discommon x @TheShoeSurgeon x Boa  Re-engineered Air Jordan 1

Neil Ferrier, the creator of DISCOMMON, has a problem: He loves Nike’s Air Jordan 1s. They are always in his head, though he would never admit to the number of pairs he personally owns. Moreover, Ferrier has always been a fan of Dominic Ciambrone, the Shoe Surgeon of Instagram, but knew that if he were to collaborate with him on a pair of Air Jordan 1s, they could not be anything short of epic.

 It suddenly dawned on Ferrier to approach Boa, a company with which Discommon has had a close working relationship since collaborating with them on the development of their first aluminum dials. It would be unheard of for Boa to dedicate design and engineering to develop a fit system specific to only a few shoes; in fact, they turn down custom projects quite often. However, because of their strong history with Ferrier, Boa gladly joined this mischievous mission to re-engineer the Air Jordan 1s. With that, Ferrier, the Shoe Surgeon and the Boa design team set out on a mission to make vastly functional Air Jordan 1s that are not only incredibly designed, but also uncommon. Boa’s fit system was created for unique applications, with each exact shoe in mind. Each dial delivers improved agility, precise adjustment and evenly distributed tension. They are engineered with high-quality, durable materials and rigorously field-tested, guaranteed to perform in any environment. The Boa team worked with DISCOMMON to machine lightweight aluminum dials that were anodized red. Equally important in this alliance is the Shoe Surgeon. With almost half a million followers, the Shoe Surgeon is all about pushing the unique and timeless craft of shoemaking and design. Based on his philosophy and dedication, the Shoe Surgeon never compromises on materials. In a nod to performance versus ultimate luxury, Ciambrone paired white and black tech canvas with red top-grain leather. This gives a slight intentional depth change in the texture, as the weave on the black canvas is a lot tighter and finer than on the white. The Shoe Surgeon’s mark is branded on the tongue and DISCOMMON’s is on the heel. And, of course, Boa’s dials are unmistakable. What’s most unusual about this collaboration is that these artists have come together to develop and re-engineer a sneaker with true expertise and know-how. The five pieces of art that result from this team effort are unparalleled.

This epic team deconstructed and rebuilt the original black-toe Air Jordan 1 designed by Ferrier. After months of back-and-forth, research, development and testing, the final product of this untouchable collaboration is now here and available for $4,500 at the   TheShoeSurgeon.com this Tuesday, January 15 at 9AM PST
