LOTTO, Only NY and Bowery FC Celebrate 25 Years of Soccer Culture in New York

The 5th Annual Only NY & Friends Invitational is back this summer, bringing together New York City's soccer and creative communities for a one day tournament on the Williamsburg waterfront. The event takes place on Saturday, June 6 at Bushwick Inlet Park and features 16 co-ed teams made up of players from pickup groups, local leagues, small sided teams, and creative communities from across New York City.

Now in its fifth year, the Invitational has become a yearly celebration of soccer culture in the city. The event brings together people from different neighborhoods, friend groups, and creative circles who share a love for the game.

While the competition is taken seriously, the focus is just as much on community. Teams spend the day playing group stage matches before moving into a knockout round, all with views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. There is no cash prize. Instead, teams compete for bragging rights and the Only NY x DSNY Home Waste Basket trophy. All proceeds from the tournament are donated to a youth sports program or nonprofit chosen by the winning team.

Off the field, teams wear custom uniforms made with local brands, businesses, restaurants, bars, and shops. This year, the Only NY x Bowery FC team will wear a special jersey created with Italian sportswear brand Lotto.

The jersey celebrates Bowery FC's 25th anniversary and features the club's signature pink color, special trim details, and a commemorative badge. To mark five years of collaboration between Bowery FC and Only NY, the kit also includes the number 97 and a New York City flag patch on the sleeve.

A limited number of jerseys will be available for purchase starting June 4 at 12 PM EST for $128 on OnlyNY.com and at the Only NY flagship store at 176 Stanton Street.

Past tournament champions include Extra Butter (2025), SCENES (2024 and 2023), and Two Bridges FC (2022).

Jay-Z Shuts Down Roots Picnic With Hits, Special Guests, and New Freestyle

Jay-Z made his return to the festival stage on Saturday night at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia. It was his first solo headlining show in more than five years, and fans got a performance packed with hits, special guests, and a surprise freestyle that had everyone talking.

Backed by The Roots, Jay-Z performed for about 90 minutes and ran through classics from across his career. The set included fan favorites like "Empire State of Mind," "Run This Town," "Dirt Off Your Shoulders," and "N****s in Paris." He also gave longtime fans some deeper cuts, including "Can I Live," "Never Change," and "Marcy Me."

The show featured several guest appearances throughout the night. Philadelphia singer Jazmine Sullivan joined Jay-Z for "Feelin' It" before performing her own hit "Need U Bad." Meek Mill also took the stage and got the crowd going with his hometown anthem "Dreams and Nightmares."

One of the biggest moments came when members of State Property reunited on stage. Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Peedi Crakk and Memphis Bleek all joined Jay-Z for a series of classic Roc-A-Fella era tracks, bringing plenty of energy to the philly crowd.

The night's biggest surprise happened early in the set. After opening with "Hovi Baby," Jay-Z launched into a new freestyle that lasted about four minutes. During the verse, he appeared to respond to several people in the rap world, including Drake, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, and Dame Dash.

One line seemed to directly answer Drake's recent lyrics:

"The jig is up, n**** I'm up 10. Wrong chart champ, you gotta look up again. N****s look up to Hov, I never looked up to them."

Jay-Z also addressed comments Kanye West made about his family, making it clear he was standing up for his children.

Even with the apparent shots at Kanye, Jay-Z still performed songs from their Watch the Throne album, including "No Church in the Wild" and "Gotta Have It."

The performance served as a preview of Jay-Z's upcoming New York shows celebrating the anniversaries of Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint. If the Roots Picnic is any sign, Hov is still one of the best to ever touch a microphone.

Nike Invites Global Designers to Help Create the Future of Air Max

Nike is bringing together a new wave of creative talent from around the world through its first ever Air Works research, development and design program. The program will welcome designers from Beijing, London, Los Angeles, Mumbai, New York, Paris, Shanghai and Tokyo to Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon, where they will help shape the future of Air Max.

The first class of Air Works designers will work side by side with Nike mentors, designers and engineers to create unique 3D printed Air Max concepts in partnership with Zellerfeld. Each design will reflect the personality of the creator while also celebrating the culture and community they represent.

According to Andy Caine, VP and Creative Director of Nike Sportswear, Air Works is about honoring the cultural impact of Air Max while giving a new generation of creatives the chance to imagine where the franchise goes next. The experience also gives designers an inside look at Nike’s history, innovation and creative process.

Throughout the program, designers will visit some of Nike’s most important spaces, including the Air Manufacturing Innovation facility, the Department of Nike Archives, the Nike Sport Research Lab, Blue Ribbon Studio and the Bowerman Footwear Lab. These experiences will help inspire the next chapter of Air Max design while building on Nike’s 40 year legacy of Air innovation.

After the program wraps up, each designer will release a limited friends and family version of their Air Max creation within their local community over the next year. The releases will eventually lead up to Air Max Day 2027.

These changes will result in a reduction of about 1,400 roles within Global Operations, most of them in technology. Nike acknowledged the impact on employees, noting that affected team members will be contacted directly and supported through the transition.

In the message, Chief Operating Officer Venkatesh Alagirisamy thanked those impacted for their contributions, while encouraging the broader team to approach the moment with professionalism and empathy. adidas Pushes Speed to the Limit With the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3

adidas is raising the bar again with the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 3, its lightest and fastest racing shoe to date. Weighing in at just 97 grams, this new model is built for pure speed and represents years of focused innovation aimed at elite performance.

The Evo 3 is the result of a three year push to rethink what a race day shoe can be. It is about 30 percent lighter than the previous version, delivers 11 percent more energy return in the forefoot, and improves running efficiency by 1.6 percent. Even before it hits the road, it is already being positioned as a record breaking shoe.

At the core of the design is a complete rethink of how foam and carbon work together. The shoe introduces a new version of Lightstrike Pro Evo foam, which is nearly half the weight of earlier versions while still offering strong cushioning and responsiveness. Paired with that is the new Energy Rim system, a carbon based structure that adds stability while helping maximize energy return with each step.

The upper is stripped down to keep weight as low as possible, inspired by lightweight materials used in kitesurfing. Every detail has been refined, from the laces to the stitching, all in the name of shaving off small amounts of weight that can make a real difference during a race. Underfoot, the outsole uses strategically placed Continental rubber in the forefoot to provide grip without adding unnecessary bulk.

The look stays true to the Evo line with a clean white design, accented by black three stripes and a visible heel detail that highlights the Energy Rim system. It builds on the success of the previous model, the Adizero Adios Pro Evo 2, which has already been worn during multiple record breaking performances.

Top athletes are expected to debut the shoe during race weekend in London, alongside new performance apparel designed for airflow and support. The Evo 3 will release in very limited numbers first, with sign ups opening in late April, followed by a wider drop during the fall marathon season. Retail price is set at $500.
