Ever more official lies from the US government
The false reality constructed for Americans parallels perfectly the false reality constructed by Big Brother in George Orwells’ dystopian novel 1984.
Consider the constant morphing of “the Muslim threat” from al-Qaeda to the Taliban, to al-Nusra, to ISIS to ISIL, to Daesh with a…

Another Phony Payroll Jobs Number
The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced today [11/6/2015] that the US economy created 271,000 jobs in October, a number substantially in excess of the expected 175,000 to 190,000 jobs. The unexpected job gain has dropped the unemployment rate to 5 percent. These two numbers will be the focus…

The US Economy Continues Its Collapse
Do you remember when real reporters existed? Those were the days before the Clinton regime concentrated the media into a few hands and turned the media into a Ministry of Propaganda, a tool of Big Brother. The false reality in which Americans live extends into economic life. Last Friday’s…

Why Have So Many Canadians Stopped Looking for Work?
"The percentage of working-age Canadians who aren’t working – who aren’t even looking for a job – is at a historic high years after the economy supposedly bounced back from the recession."
"Canadians want to work. They’re settling for temp, seasonal or part-time jobs, without the stability of a pension or benefits, to stay in the workforce."
"But for many, the numbers just don’t add up. They go back to school; they settle for seasonal, contract work; some just throw in the towel."
"The percentage of Canadians over 15 who are working or actively looking for work is 66.1, its lowest point since 2001. (For both men and women aged 25-54, it’s 86.1 – the lowest since 2002. For men 25-54 it’s 90.4, the lowest since at least 1976.)"
"'It’s a trend, unfortunately, I expect to see continue with globalization and automation: It’s getting tough for men, particularly ones that don’t have levels of higher education,' [Mike Moffatt, an economist with the Mowat Centre and the Ivey School of Business] said."
"A government that wants to reverse that trend, then, would have to both encourage men and women to join and remain in the labour market, and ensure they have the skills they need to do so."
Global News, February 10, 2015: "Canadians want work. Why have so many stopped looking?," by Anna Mehler Paperny
"According to the [Labour Force Survey], Canada added 35,000 jobs in January. A statistically significant number of jobs, hurray!"
"But wait. Those were all part-time jobs. We lost 10,000 full time jobs, and added 47,000 part-time jobs."
"Oh, and they were all through self-employment. We lost nearly 6,000 jobs, but 41,000 Canadians entered the labour market through self-employment."

Are grey clouds hovering over the June employment report?
Are grey clouds hovering over the June employment report?
// This morning the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the employment report for June and by all measures it appears to be that the numbers were great news!
To further clarify that statement, however,it was a great report with the exception of one glaring mostly out-of-the-news statistic called the labor force participation rate. The labor force participation rate is the percentage of working-age…

Why 3.8 Percent Unemployment Rate Could Be Bad?
Why 3.8 Percent Unemployment Rate Could Be Bad?
Lauren Weber of the Wall Street Journal cites a research paper showing that the unemployment rate will soon get down to 3.8%, which sounds good. Given that the unemployment rate is However, this is deceptive because they’re saying that will be due to labor shortages. I address this concept in a previous blog entitled “Why A Lower Unemployment Rate Is Not Always Good”.
The main problem is that…
