How long had they been standing here now? It was a tedious task, one of which she supposed she should be proud. After all, that's was what they were told over and over again.
Be proud of your rank.
Look how well you do for your diamond.
For Homeworld.
A never questioning soldier with a wonderful mind for battle and war. That was all she was really meant to be. She knew it as much as she knew anything there was to know. Like all gems it was something ingrained in them from the moment they emerged from the ground. The only real option was the dedication you put into your task. Even if that task was standing by on the off chance someone dared to try to interrupt their diamonds meeting, in her own court. A ridiculous thought and Rose had little doubt anyone else would dare such a feat.
“This amount of defense for a simple meeting at court feels a bit over the top, doesn't it?” A gentle smile came with the words, dark eyes glancing to the side as she regarded her teammate in this task. Two quartz soldiers on guard weren't unheard of naturally. But they weren't the only such pair stationed today. They were simply the last line of defense – those stationed closest to the diamonds. Another mark of rank she supposed, one that placed the best beside the most important. And yet, it made it all too clear that the others were considered much more disposable. Pawns to be used and tossed aside, and that thought earned a soft sigh.
It all seemed so unnecessary at times.
