"This better be good."
The words were barely above a whisper as his frustration was evident on his face. Even though he was done sparring for the day it didn't mean he wanted to deal with the Clave for whatever reason they decided to come to the institute. Unfortunately, Jace also knew that ignoring them would never turn out well for him. Not when he was going on a mission they'd requested him specifically for the next morning. Whoever it was he hoped they were important for him to make the short trip from the training room to ops. If not? At least he could spend a few hours at the Hunter's Moon to drown out the frustration that always came from dealing with the Clave.
"I was told you were looking for me. Not sure why since Alec is the head of the institute."

“Don’t tell Jace but I’m keeping it.” Alec knelt down so he could pick up the Hellhound puppy, smirking as it admittedly snuggled up against his chin and licked him. Poor thing probably got left behind because of his injured leg.

“I forgot JC.” Grayson hissed, trying to keep his voice down so his twin didn’t hear him. The Hellhound would’ve loved seeing Alec again and he forgot to bring him through the portal with him. Well in his defense the mutt was having a good time eating demons and he was in a hurry. “Tell Thomas to open another portal for like two seconds.”
"Don't give up yet."
It was strange seeing the elder Herondale there in his loft. The last time had been before his untimely death and before his wife had died, as well. A lot had changed and staring at the other he was certain he'd changed, too. Unfortunately, neither of them were the same people and while he could hep him, it was up to him to decide whether or not to accept said help. Especially as Jace was most likely to be involved. Magnus had gotten to know the Herondale boy when he'd lived with him and he'd gotten to know him even more thanks to Alexander but never did he think he would meet the man the other should've called father. "You still have time to fix things. If you actually want to fix things with the Clave."

❝ You taught me to be something better. ❞ ( have some feelings )
"Idid?" Blinking, he wasn't certain howhe'd shown his father how to be something better. It might have hadsomething to do with him and Alec. He'd been nervous aboutintroducing his boyfriend to his father, but given there were norestrictions on parabatai being involved he'd hoped his father wouldapprove of his choice. Even if he didn't he wasn't about to give upAlec. Jace had loved him most of his life and he'd only truly come toterms with that when he nearly lost him. Maybe seeing the two of themtogether, the way they treated each other and how attentive they wereshowed his father that good things could still come from life. Eitherway, he wanted the same thing for his father that any parent wouldwant for their child; for them to be happy. "How did I manage todo that? Or have you been watching Alec and I lately?"
@disenchcnted
“We’ll fix this like we always do. Together.”
"How?"A part of him wanted to believe his father, wanted to believe thatsomehow between the two of them they'd figure out how to fix things.Except a larger part of him knew they couldn't. His time as the Owl,the things he'd done couldn't just be wiped away with a wave of ahand. He needed — no, he deservedsome sort of punishment for his actions. It may not have been hisfault, he may not have been in control of his actions, but Jace knewthat punishment of some sort was something he felt he deserved. TheClave had decided treatment over punishment and soon he'd be leavingfor the Silent City. First, though, his father seemed to want to dothe one thing he'd always wished for; actually being a parent. "Thereis no way to fix this, dad. I wish there was but there's not."

of course, she couldn’t help but stifle a snort at his words, though she did try to reach up and pat his head gently with one hand. sometimes he could be ridiculous, but she still adored him anyway.
“i know, darlin’. i know.”
