Mmkay well I think I wanna start w the matriarchs who are gonna be ambiguously gay because we don’t see much into their personal lives but they’re clearly very close. Maybe they’re both from New York? Lucy Liu is from Queens maybe the base is in the ruins of New York. Maybe Aunjanue Ellis was a mayoral candidate right before the catastrophic event and she just took over and started running things like a boss in the aftermath. And Lucy started out as a rebel leader or some kind of interloper but then they bonded somehow.

Woah wait what if they didn’t have names? What if they were both just like “Madame Mayor”? I mean I’ll want names because I can tell already I’m going to fall in love with them and their backstories but what if in the story itself they didn’t say their names

Yeah I think that’s what I’m gonna do. And I think Idris Elba is gonna be named Old Man something and he always gets mad bc he’s not even that old

He runs a home for kids who lost their families. He was on vacation from England when the Fall happened (idk what it is but that’s what people are gonna call it).

Anyway lol Rinko I think was on vacation from Japan in LA maybe or somewhere else on the west coast and Monica Raymund found her and helped her get to safety while everything was happening and when they heard there was a community growing in New York they set off cross country together because they didn’t like the way things were run in the west.

Okay Rinko Kikuchi is Rin Suzuki and Monica Raymund is Adriana Sanchez

Rin is really quiet but she has this great very sarcastic sense of humor that she whips out at opportune moments so she seems really cool and collected but she’s actually a huge dork and she’s obsessed with movies and Hollywood and actors, especially fantasy and scifi. Adriana actually is very calm and collected. She’s really street smart and level headed and hell with a gun in each hand. I don’t know about zombies but there’s something out there that they’re fighting and she’s damn good at fighting it. She grew up in a poor neighborhood with a lot of gang stuff going on so she’s no stranger to violence and no stranger to going hungry and roughing it. She’s one of the youngest in the group but she’s very mature for her age precisely because of the stuff that she’s been through and I think I wanna address that in the story

They are a good match tbh and when she’s with people she likes Rin talks nonstop about scifi and Adriana was never much of a reader but she loves to hear the stories Rin has read and because a lot of stuff has been destroyed that oral tradition is really all they have left. So Rin tells stories to the whole group but especially to Adriana.

lupita nyong'o as an as yet unnamed member of the group but she'd probably be first mate

monica raymund as adriana she's the muscle so she'd be in charge of weaponry i suppose

rinko kikuchi as rin she's the kinda nerdy kid so she's probably just a cabin girl or something she's the youngest out of the group altho adriana is about the same age

candis cayne as the mechanical expert she's an engineer and a mechanic so she'd be in charge of keeping the ship in shape

they'd be like not steampunk but like?? that sort of old everything is broken down kind of mechanical scifi like in naussica of the valley of the wind really an old grey ship that scutters across the land (they'd be land pirates) looking for things to salvage

bonus characters: aunjanue ellis and lucy liu as the madame mayors - no names but they are the matriarchs they are the head of everything so they'd be admirals of the fleet

idris elba as old man joel, the prophet/wise man archetype of the story. he runs an orphanage
