Dalmatians fic (text version)
a 101 Dalmatians (Disney) fanfic
It had been an incredibly busy day for the famous 101 Dalmatians. After foiling Cruella's last plot, Patch had gotten more attention than he'd had in weeks. People took photo after photo of them while his siblings had all crowded around him and Thunderbolt, begging to hear his story again and again. It was nice, but frankly, a little exhausting and Patch was grateful when Pongo suggested it was time they all go home and go to bed.
"Better do what your father says and don't stay up too late, Patch. Even wonder dogs need their rest." Thunderbolt winked and did his trademark bark before leaving along with his camera crew.
"Goodbye Thunderbolt! And thank you, thank you so much!" Patch called after him.
The ride home was pleasant and far less hectic than the trolley ride with all the pups finally yawning and starting to settle down. Once home, they tromped obediently in a line behind Pongo and Perdita until only Patch and Lucky were left.
"Patch?" Lucky seemed anxious.
"What is it, Lucky?" Patch asked.
"I shouldn't have made fun of your bark earlier. I just-- I was cross you kept spoiling the program." Lucky explained.
"I didn't think I was spoiling it. I just get so excited when I see The Thunderbolt Adventure Hour!" Patch's tail wagged at the memory of television.
"I know, and now I'm really glad you know the program so well or you wouldn't have saved us! You were amazing!" Lucky said. But he still looked as though something was troubling him. "I guess what I wanted to say was, sorry for being such a bad brother."
"You're not a bad brother." Patch told him. "You tried to cheer me up when we were in the warehouse, remember? And you're the only one who's even said sorry."
"Really? Well, maybe the others are sorry, too." Lucky suggested.
"Maybe..." Patch doubted it.
"They'll come round." Lucky tried to sound convincing. "Anyway, I have a favor to ask."
"Go on." Patch was listening.
"I'm really sleepy, but I keep thinking about that devil woman and how much she scared me! I thought maybe if I was with someone bigger and braver than me..." Lucky faltered, afraid that it was too big a favor after all.
But Patch was completely understanding. "Of course! What kind of wonder dog would I be, if I didn't look after my baby brother?" Patch smiled. "Come on, let's head in before Dad starts looking for us. He's bound to have noticed the count's off again by now."
Right on cue, Pongo began barking. "We're only at 97! Patch, Lucky, where are you boys?" he called out.
Lucky laughed. "Right again, Patch! ...You sure you haven't been watching Dad on television?" he joked.
"Oh yes, The Cranky Dad Hour. The only program where you get grounded if you don't watch it." Patch replied, joking back.
"Boys!" Pongo appeared in front of them, looking stern. "You know to line up when called! We don't want a repeat of what hap-- I mean, I was worried about you." Pongo corrected himself. He nuzzled Lucky first, then Patch. "You alright, son?" he whispered.
"Of course I'm alright." Patch answered. "I'm with my family."
"Yes, yes you are." Pongo relaxed, glad that whatever had just transpired between his sons seemed to have done some good. Patch was walking prouder than ever, and Lucky was right beside him, eager to show his big brother the best sleeping spot in their plantation home.
I know people have mixed feelings on the DTV Disney movies but I thought Patch's London Adventure was pretty good. The only thing I would have changed is that I'd have given Lucky his traditional black ears. I almost didn't recognize him! Anyway I think he and Patch have the best friendship of the 15 (or 99) puppies. They're both so cute!
