Frozen: Polar Nights
At last! We have an updated book summary!! Feel free to share this one around, analyze it, etc.! :) Cover reveal should be soon! (And wait until you see it! It's really cool!)
Anna, Queen of Arendelle, has been tirelessly preparing for the Polar Night’s Celebration that is held every year to welcome the time when the sun doesn’t rise in the Polar Circle. She has been working so hard, her fiancé Kristoff suggests she take a night off to visit her sister Elsa, the Snow Queen. Anna loves the idea. Accompanied by Kristoff, Sven, and Olaf, Anna reunites with Elsa in the Enchanted Forest. After telling spooky stories around the campfire, Olaf swears that one of the creatures of their tales has come to life! Who else is responsible for the sudden onset of storms and the earlier than normal darkening of the skies? Why else is everyone starting to become so forgetful? Anna and Elsa join forces to determine what is going on. Together they recall Kristoff’s terrifying tale about a princess who turned into a draugr―an undead creature that steals memories in an effort to make others forget the misdeeds it committed when it was alive. Is it possible that Kristoff inadvertently unearthed memories of a draugr, and thus unleashed the monster upon Arendelle? Anna and Elsa must uncover the real story behind the tale before everyone in Arendelle forgets who they are and is cast into darkness forever….

The title page that started it all!!
This was my original title page when I first started writing Dangerous Secrets last year. I was asked to do the book way back in October, almost two months before the movie came out! I was already writing for Disney Books at the time, but they were all original books from my own imagination, not Disney properties. (Example: Camelot Code) (Disney actually publishes a lot of regular books too – like the Rick Riordan series for example!)
But my dream had always been to write for an actual Disney property someday. I first got asked to audition for a Snow White spin-off story, but they did not select me in the end. (I was so disappointed!) Then I was hanging out with Kamilla Benko at a book festival in Kentucky and she was telling me about Forest of Shadows, which she was writing at the time, and I remember being so envious! Not only a Disney book - but a Frozen book! How amazing would that be?
As the months past, I hoped for more opportunities - but none seemed to come. My editor kept promising that someday she’d find the perfect project for me, but I don’t think I truly believed it deep down. She was just trying to make me feel better, right?
But in end, she came through! I was offered a book - a Frozen book!! (Sorry, Snow White, but this was WAY better!) I seriously thought it must be some mistake - or they’d change their mind or something. But it was real! I remembered being SO NERVOUS at the time–like what a great responsibility I was being given, to tell Iduna and Agnarr’s stories. I couldn’t mess this up! There was also a super tight deadline - so I basically had to drop everything and write every moment I could.
But the funny thing was - it was probably the easiest book I ever wrote. It was almost as if Iduna and Agnarr were whispering their stories in my ear and all I was doing was writing them down. At times they made me laugh and at times they made me cry. But they were always so alive in my head. I credit the filmmakers for creating such a rich, beautiful world to begin with - a true wonderland for an author to play in.
Now I’m counting down the days to when I can share this story with you!

Dangerous Secrets: Teaser Tuesday #2
And... the winer is...MAKE ME SWOON!
Here we go! Dangerous Secrets Teaser #2. Placed below the fold for those who want to avoid spoilers. To give a teeny bit of context, this is a scene when Iduna is 16 and Agnarr is 18. And they have just discovered a certain secret room some of you may be familiar with...
“Iduna, what’s wrong?” Agnarr asked, looking alarmed at my reaction. He reached out, taking my hands in his own and squeezing them tight. My heart fluttered in my chest as he met my eyes with his own. Eyes so deep and green and bright, but filled with such confusion.
He didn’t understand.
He’d never understand. Because I could never tell him.
“What’s wrong, Iduna?” he repeated, softer this time, reaching up to trace my cheek with feathery fingers, leaving a trail of fire in their wake. I swallowed hard. I should go. I should leave. I should run from this room and never come back.
But, of course, I couldn’t. I could no more walk out of this room than I could break through the mist itself.
