Believe it or not, but Bianca’s not a huge fan of Disney...
There are several... variously obvious reasons to that.😅
Jokes aside, Disney has really been stealing art from creators.
By using their design without the artist's agreement or even knowledge ; by passing contracts but '''forgetting''' to pay the artist's redevances (#DisneyMustPay on Twitter) ; and by pressuring artists to pass NDA contracts before even discussing the terms so they can do whatever they want with the art and give themselves all the benefits. They especially do that with independent, poorly known artists because they know there's fewer risk of backlash.
They could also potentially pass a contract with the artist, then sell the art to someone else and as it's them who sold it this time, the contract with the artist technically doesn't count anymore so they can take majority of the credit and deadpan cut the artist's credit.
This has to be stood up against.
Us artists are already struggling way more than enough to be recognized, credited and paid on the regular. If practices like these are allowed on the legal plan, for all industries, then it will simply mean that anyone could use our art without paying, and without being legally worried.
I honestly don't know what to do. I don't know how it works...
I have no plan, but encourage a boycott of Disney's products, a media pressure on them and our rights and a leaguing against people abusing art and artists.
I don't wanna force any of you, to be clear. I just know it is something worth standing up against. Because we're artists, we think it out, we stress ourselves, we are doing actual work and we deserve to be. Rewarded.
