Artist Jan Vormann has spent 10 years exploring the world, visiting roughly 40 cities across Europe, Central America, Asia, and the United States, while making and installing LEGO masonry interventions to city walls and buildings in moderate disrepair. His ongoing project, Dispatchwork, started making these colorful toy-block repairs and additions — some using only a…

#lego #dispatchwork #janvormann #muri #muricolorati (presso Bocchignano, Lazio, Italy)

Jan Vormann - Dispatchwork
“Dispatchwork does not defy deterioration. Rather, it aims to emphasize transitoriness as a chance for the construction and reconstruction of our environments. Adapting to various cities, the project infiltrates walls of cultural heritage, historic facades, fortifications and yet many more less spectacular corners as a colorful repair of shabby walls within our shared space.”
Jan Vormann is transforming otherwise grey and dull architectural structures of both present and past with the simple concept of Plastic Construction Bricks. He is adding color as well as transition between times and concepts of humanity and architecture.

Jan Vormann is a German artist born in 1983. He travels the world repairing crumbling monuments and filling cracks in buildings, monuments with plastic construction. He offers participation to anyone anywhere, who wants to join the project named ‘Dispatchwork’.
Jan Vormann: “Have you noticed that toys for kids are generally very shiny and colorful? […] ‘Dispatchwork’ aims to seal fissures in broken walls worldwide, completing the material compilation in urban constructing and adding color to the urban greyscales, by inserting a very basic construction-material: Plastic Construction Bricks.
Plastic construction pieces are used to repair and fill holes in broken walls. Thanks to the generous support of numerous foundations, organisations and individuals worldwide network of participation has since been created.”
Jan Vormann offers participation to anyone anywhere who wants to join. Dispatchers all over the world send him photographs of their own installations. A section called ‘Dispatchers Worldwide’ shares their locations (more than 90 listed) on an interactive map.
