my blood is fucking ice cold right now
I use an app to scan documents in the archives, right. In the last couple of years this app, of fucking course, created a Premium tier so now there are limits on what you can do for free. At some point last year I did make a premium account. For whatever reason I was not signed into this account for the entire three months I just spent scanning documents. It didn't really matter for my ability to make new scans, so I was like whatever.
I just started editing the scans (making sure they're cropped right, choosing whether they should be b&w or color or just a photo, that kind of thing) to then upload them to my OneDrive. This is how I have always done it. Never had a problem.
But! I was out of free shares. So ok, I signed in, and
all of the new scans disappeared. I can't see them. It's like they never happened.
HELLO???
I think it is reasonably likely that the files are not actually deleted, just invisible while signed in bc I wasn't signed in when I scanned them. (This is obviously cope to some extent but like it doesn't seem insane.) I have emailed them about it. But like. Oh my god. OH MY GOD. If 3 months of work just got flushed I will actually lose my god damn mind. The way things have been going is already suspiciously close to the universe just deciding it doesn't want me to finish my PhD and like eventually I will be pushed over the edge and just quit. I don't think this would do it, but IT WOULD BE A CLOSE FUCKING THING
